August Clearly Besotted Release Part 1

Hi! How are you?

Today sees the next quarterly release from Clearly Besotted. There’s such an amazing range that I’m bringing a small selection for the next 4 days. If you haven’t seen the sets in full, do pop over to the blog. Today I’ve picked a gardening theme- with the first one being Simply Succulent.

I wanted to create a scene making a feature of the different plants and pots and thought this triple bench would work. The succulents are great fun to colour and I’ve just used alcohol pens with the images stamped in Nuvo Hybrid ink which is a great ink for both alcohol markers or watercolour. I thought a overhanging canopy would finish off the card; it folds straight down so can still go in an envelope.

Next up: Birds of a Feather. This is another smaller set like the Simply Succulent but has some pretty bird images. To make this I used a tent folded card and cut a rectangle out of the top of the folded edge.

I wanted to give the impression they were all sat on a telegraph wire so stamped the line onto a strip of acetate. I attached the acetate onto the inside of the card and then adhered the birds to it.

I coloured the cut out birds in with Prismacolor pencils and then added some crackle glaze with a little glitter sprinkled over the top before it dried.

I loved these two sets- and I’m changing gear a little and showing you a couple of the floral sets tomorrow, so please pop back again tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting; I’d love to know which sets are your favourite so far.

Keren xx

Since this is my very first look at the new goodies, I must tell you, Keren, you’ve piqued my interest in seeing them all! Lovely little market scene – and your hand-crafted bench!
LOVE the birds on the ‘wire’ and must know your favorite adhesive for the acetate? Brilliant every. single. time. xx

Ha. You’re so lovely. Seriously- adhesive depends on the occasion. If I’m wanting a small piece of acetate fixing and it won’t have any stress upon it, strong PVA glue is fine. For lots of other occasions, red liner tape- a strong double sided tape is my go-to. I’m going to do a video series shortly about acetate- as I love it so much!! x

Thankyou Pooja. These sets are so inspiring and easy to create something fun with. I always like to put the elements in a sometimes unexpected setting and it’s the hunt for the unexpected that fires my creativity. xx

I really like how you created the canopy over the rack of cacti. Brilliant. The birds on a wire are inspired. Love it!
