PaperBabe Stamps June Release

Hi! I am really pleased to be joining in showcasing the latest products to come out of the creative mind of PaperBabe Stamps.
It’s a rarity I’d say no to Kim- particularly as she’s responsible for me learning about creating faces and following a different artistic direction.
This month, she asked if I’d join in as she’s got some brand new products that are the perfect partners to her stamp sets. They are MDF portrait media blanks that can be hung or freestanding. Want to see?
Isn’t it a fab product! I recently got the Pieridae butterfly set–
And so as soon as I saw the MDF blanks, I just pictured this girl with the butterflies!
So they come ‘flat packed’ and you simply follow the really easy diagram and use some decent PVA to glue them together.
I began by adding Gesso all over the front facing pieces and then adding a stronger colour base as I wanted to use crackle glaze all over
I’ve used mostly PaperArtsy Frescos and glazes are they’re such high quality and have a high percentage of pigment.
Once I’d painted the base coat, allowed it to dry, then painted a thin layer of Crackle Glaze and allowed that to dry. I then added a lighter colour paint onto the face and the the hair so a darker colour would show through when it cracked.
I speeded up the process with a heat gun and because I’d got this fun effect, I didn’t need to add shading to the hair.
The face is stamped with the Female Face mini from Paperbabe stamps and I added painty details. Doing it really late on without decent light wasn’t probably the brightest idea, but the butterflies help detract from her imperfections. In fact, I’m thinking that wearing butterflies would be a great beauty tool for me too 😉
You can see the dimension in that photo- it really is a fun thing to create. There are 3 styles in the range and I’ve already had an order from one of my daughters!
Do pop over to the Paperbabe stamps blog and see what else Kim and the team have created! The sets are available from Friday 17th June in the store and retail at £9.99. Trust me, the amount of fun you’ll have doing this is worth twice that!!
See you soon
xx
