Sketch Card & Irresponsible Lending.

It’s Friday! I’m looking forward to a Saturday where I’m not actually working. I have plans- and they’re fun ones for a change!
This card is a sketch challenge up at Avery Elle’s blog so I’ve created this one.
I did one previously …

20130628-123725.jpg didn’t really like that one- prob needs brighter colours.

I have been feeling a little incensed this week with my bank.
I went to pay money in ( pay IN- not withdraw!) and the bank cashier afte processing the cheques said I need you to sign in.
“Sign in?” I asked.
“Yes please”.
“To pay money in?”.
“We have something we need to discuss with you”.
I started to feel concerned.
Had someone emptied our fairly sparse account? It’s the one I used to have before I married and its not my main account but I put bits in it (& take lots of ‘bits out’ !!
Ermm. “Of course”, I obliged and tapped my number into the little machine.
She was peering intently at her screen.
I felt as if I was about to get a dressing down. Still more silence.
“Is everything ok?” I queried?
“Well have you ever had one of these”she wondered as she flashed a piece of card at me.
“I’m not sure” I said feeling confused.
“Well we sometimes offer you certain deals but not every month- only at certain times and they’re not permanent offers.”
She scribbled on this piece of card and thrust it at me.
“We can loan you this”.
I looked at it.
I checked it twice.
“Well you might fancy a world cruise” she suggested.
“A holiday full stop would be nice” I retorted.
“Or splash out on a new wardrobe?”
I peered down at my clothes wondering whether I looked like I needed one.
Would you like to know how much my bank had offered me?
This is on a very small bank account. There’s no regular salary coming into it other than small occasional earnings and a bit of child allowance.
Ā£17,651.
I double checked that the decimal point was where I thought it was.
Puzzled, I walked out of the bank.
Then I felt really cross.
That kind of money is crazy.
Irresponsible lending.
No wonder the banks got into trouble. How exactly was I going to repay that.
They were trying to entice me into borrowing money I didn’t need.
The bank has gone down in my estimation.
For a moment I did wonder though. Exactly how much craft supplies would Ā£17,000 buy me šŸ˜‰
Quite a bit!!

Better dash- need to get the kids and avoid booking myself onto an around the world cruise!
See you when I’ve changed banks!
xx

First, love your card. The bright “oh baby” is just brilliant against the softer elements. And I do like the blue one too. Banks. Credit card companies…they’ve lost their integrity. One cc that dh very occasionally uses has a $30,000 limit! What the heck for??!!! Though, it would redo my craft room and fill it with enough supplies to last a lifetime…. I’d lol if it weren’t so ludicrous. Have a great weekend!

Both cards are great but I do like the bright one a teeny bit better … Oh don’t get me started on irresponsible lending … I want a stress free day! have a great weekend!

Love the intricate cuts on the first card (or the second one you made) and the vellums on the second. Both cards are soft and pretty! Perfect for baby boys or girls! And great takes on the sketch, Keren, so glad that you joined us!

And I had to add that there is no intelligence in a bank.

Love both of your cars, Keren–so light and airy! The 2nd card’s vellum are gorgeous! Beautiful take on the sketch! Your incident at the bank really depicts the state of economy world wide.I can’t believe that the bank would loan money so VERY freely! Glad that you have lots of self-control šŸ™‚
