Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Seasonal Blooms Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone. Hope you’re well. Today sees something doubly new. New products and a new crafting kit. You know sometimes you don’t want to choose, you just want something all picked out and organised ready for you! Well the Craft Your Life project kit is exactly that. (all the following links are affiliate ones).

As with every blog hop; there’s a start.. at Altenew’s Card Blog and you might have come from Daniel Diaz’s blog, so welcome!

I’ve a few projects to show you – here’s the first one.

It’s a note holder- all you need is watercolour paper/cardstock, some substantial cardstock for the backing, the lovely new Kit plus the Artists Watercolour Half Pan Set. It makes a lovely gift. Here’s how – firstly watercolour after white heat embossing.

Add score lines around the image about 2cm around the edges and bottom.

Next use the matching die to cut out the edges..

Next, add glue to the middle portion of the reverse..plus the back of the turned up flaps ( cutting off the corners too).

Now adhere onto some substantial cardstock. Add some pieces of watercolour cardstock to either side of the embossing folder and stack them into the holder.

You can get the Craft Your Life Project Kit whilst stocks last or sign up for the monthly subscription.

The Craft Your Life Project Kit comes with a 6 x 8 Stamp set and its coordinating Die Set, Stencil, and Embossing Folder. Note that the items included in this kit are not sold separately.

The price of the subscription is $49.99/ month plus shipping and tax (calculated based on the location of the shipping address). This will Auto-renew every month until it is cancelled.

I used the embossing folder and the matching stencil to create a half and half card. Just by stencilling, then embossing, die cutting the image and then trimming it in half and stacking it on a small card base. The embossing folder creates such amazing texture.

More Waffle Flower!

pip
Hi there! I’m here with some projects I made for Make The Special Stamp Store with this set from Waffleflower; Flower Circles.

I’ve used Perfect Pearls to create the effects- stamping in Versamark and adding the mica.I had in mind Fireworks night. I thought the images lent themselves perfectly to the theme but after I’d created it- I was less in love with it (that’ putting it mildly!)
pip2The weirdly 3D looking hello came about purely by chance- I stamped slightly off-centre with Versamark after I’d heat embossed with gold & then just dusted the Perfect Pearls over it. By complete happenstances (or happystances!) it looks 3D. Unhappy with this card I went to mark 2 and tried a completely different style.
For the second card –pip3
You can see how simple the watercolouring is – just heat embossed in white and added the colour with Artiste Markers scribbled on a block and water added.
pip4
After I’d completed this one, I wished I’d planned the layout more carefully- it’s too neat; nature isn’t like that and therefore it looks too staged!

Ah well. One of those days where you just shrug your shoulders, say, ‘enough’ and go on to the next project.

I’m working on some projects for an-all day workshop I’m teaching on Saturday. Should be fun- but lots of preparation involved. I’ve about 21 ladies to ‘entertain’, so I’d better get moving!

See you soon, when I’ve finished prepping and cutting! x

PaperArtsy & Virginia’s View Challenge!

20140506-175103.jpg
Don’t be too shocked! I know I’m posting again- but it’s for a good cause- or rather a lovely person.
If you’re after genuine and lovely and scouting around the papercraft online community, you wouldn’t have to look too hard to find Virginia Lu.
Serendipitously we ‘found’ each other during the mammoth blog hop for our lovely crafty trend-leader Cath Edvalson. She and Taheerah helped me organise it and since then we’ve become good buddies and chat regularly. She recently started a crafty challenge blog called Virginia’s View here and she was blown away by the runaway success of it; over 300 entrants to the inaugural challenge. She kindly contacted me and asked if I’d be a guest designer for her stitching challenge.
Of course. I’d be honoured. So this is my piece for the blog today. I do love stitching- makes me happy, in fact!

20140506-175628.jpg the set might surprise you-

20140506-175908.jpg
It’s from PaperArtsy- here can you see how much you can do with it?
I’m spreading my wings a little- finding new techniques to learn & new types of image to inspire me. Hope you love the set as much as I do!
Do think about entering- there’s a Simon Says Stamp voucher up for grabs and there’s 12 days left to link up. It’s a great way of getting to know new people in this wonderful community- it’s not hard, you can even so faux stitching too!

I’m also linking this project to Catered Crop Button challenge (thanks Ros) . You should go link up too- it’s adding buttons to your projects ( or talking about how you store them!)
Oh, and because I can, I’m popping it into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog on the theme of anything goes!

Better go- not much of the chat. I thought I’d slyly help myself to some coffee cake whilst cooking tea. Sadly it fell into my coffee.
What’s a girl to do?
Common sense would have meant I just tipped out the coffee and congratulated myself on calories saved.
However, it seemed a shame to waste. I started to drink it.
An artistic layer of ‘fat bubbles’ started to form on the top.
Looked beautiful- tasted umm…foul.
Fortunately there’s enough left.
For the moment at least.
In our house, you need to tie stuff down and lock it away.
Truly, we need a food safe.

Dashing off now to feed the gannets tea..minus the coffee cake ( or as Darcy on Twitter put it ‘cakey coffee’)
Xx

Mama Elephant & Virginia’s View

20140317-222520.jpg
Just flying in with this card using the Mama Elephant embellished tag

20140317-222642.jpg
which is a brilliantly versatile die set. I added the sentiment from the Honey Bunny set

20140317-222805.jpg
Sadly these are both out of stock at Make The Day Special but if you look, there’s still plenty of other Mama Elephant sets.
I did some watercolouring onto some lovely thick watercolour paper I had hidden away in my stash especially for my lovely friend Virginia Lu’s Challenge Blog. It’s called Virginias View and you can find it here the challenge ends shortly but she will post a new one very soon. The response to her brand new challenge is amazing. Over 300 entries!!
She deserves it- I got to know her during the organising of Cath Edvalson’s ‘Moxie Fab Blog Hop’ and she is incredibly lovely and very funny. She is a baking whizz and of she’s not stamping she’s invariably cooking!
The theme was ‘watercolouring’ and I simply did a few washes and then diecut using the Mama Elephant die. I embossed the sentiment ( which you can’t really tell) with gold and sprinkled the mini shapes to add movement.
I’ll be back soon.
Have a last minute Birthday card to create, so better dash.

See you when I’ve repaired a dinosaurs tail ! xx

Simple Boys Cards!

blogpics12 002Aren’t boys tough? in so very many ways!! Tough little cookies, tough to figure out and supremely tough to make for. How many times have you scratched your head trying to make something remotely boy-suitable that looks good too. This was a very quick card for a birthday boy who is a friend of Jamies’. Having two sons means I will make a fair few greetings over the years.

This one though, I like. Only because it was simple and very quick. Using a scrap of wallpaper border (already sticky- oh Joy!)  it was ready in super quick time. Scout around people; there is so much that is free- check out your local DIY store!

Completed with my trusty old Quickutz alphabet as you have to have their name on- it just won’t do otherwise!!

Feels good being simple!!Take that one however you like! I’m trying to drag simplicity into my ever complicated life and that is a mammoth challenge.

Well I need to crack on with preparing for my first Stampin’Up event. It is fun  preparing samples to show the girls and at least I’ll be able to re-use them. I just need to settle on what we’re actually going to make together.. some of them are not die-hard crafters so it needs to be simple but with the’ wow, did I really make that?’ effect! Think I might do some cheat watercolouring! Need to get going though; should be about 15 of us so its going to have to be make and takes in rounds!! At least my dining table will seat 10 .

Take care xx
