Seven Hills Crafts Hellooo!

I’m so glad to be back on the Make The Day Special blog today-
except it’s changed its name. It’s now Seven Hills Crafts
facebook2blogo.. and wasn’t it worth the wait!
The website looks amazing and I can’t wait for a proper explore.
Back to today..
I guess I should have done something all celebratory with it opening, but I’ve got flowers, glitter and a hello instead!
I started with the fantastic die from Neat & Tangled
I wanted it to swing, so once I’d cut it out from some glitter paper (& turned the paper over and die cut again so I had a glittered hoop no matter which way it swung), I added some thread before I sandwiched them together and then suspended it from the reverse of the front part of the card.
For the stamping.. well, I had to use the matching stamp set Hand Stitched..
I wanted to create it using non traditional colours; navy seemed a good way to go! I wanted navy on the front too.
No patterned papers were harmed during the process (!) as it’s all strips of cardstock- great for when you’ve bits to use up, or just easier sometimes to match ink colours or marker colours. The centre is die cut after I’d made the front stripes, which then gave me the chance to twist the central cut out and so play with direction too.
I’ve obviously stuck it into the middle part of the inside, but it adds real interest when stood up and the recipient is looking through!

I added the sentiment coming off at an angle that matched the hanging hoop and popped a couple of little pearls (partly to add a little weight and make the hoop stand still a little better!).
Well, I hope your New Year has started well. Enjoy having a mooch around the site. We’ll all be joining you shopping, and I’ll try not to bump into you down the aisles! ;-).
Don’t forget to sign up on the blog for subscription purposes (see the sidebar).
I’ve got so much to do- I’ve been bought some lovely crafty presents- in fact I must show you them. I’ve lots of learning to do, which is always a good thing!
See you soon ( but minus the chocolates). I love chocolate but I’m trying to pace myself otherwise I’ll never fit into my craft room!

Add A Little Dazzle & Neat & Tangled Blog Hop Day 5!

bhshine1Welcome to the final day of the Blog Hop. I really hope you’ve enjoyed the fab projects that the girls from both teams have posted.
My final project is just a bit of fun. When I opened this stamp set, ‘Gifts For You’, I was puzzling about what to create with it
I wanted initially to create an Andy Warhol-esque project, with different coloured backgrounds and hair colours and then whilst messing around with creating coloured hair, I finalised on this one. Again, as the hair was a solid stamp, you don’t have the luxury of simply stamping in a colour and cutting out, or the metal wouldn’t be seen. Likewise, stamp the image on the reverse of the metal and your image is the wrong way around once you turn the metal the correct way around. I used the stamping onto metal with Versamark technique, adding the clear embossing powder, heating to set (mind your fingers, the metal gets hot quickly) and then I have a line to cut around with the edge of the embossing but it still allows the colour and shine of the metal to be seen.

For the photo booth look and sentiment I’ve used the Photo Booth set

I’ve used Baby Blue & Pucker Me Pink craft metal a diddly bit of Outrageous Orange for the bow tie!

The boy and girl are fun images and the set is designed to create gorgeous tags too.

Here’s the rest of the list. I’m at the end, so just start at the beginning!

Add A Little Dazzle & Neat & Tangled Day 4

Hi everyone! Don’t fall over in shock- a post, …with actual content! The gremlins are still misbehaving a little- but hopefully I’ve ironed it out & we have a fabulous hop for you today. If you haven’t caught up with the other go and look at all of the projects!

This week Add A Little Dazzle and Neat & Tangled have joined forces to bring you some stamp and metal goodness. Neat & Tangled is a stamp company boasting fun with a cute, hand drawn, heartwarming feel. They’re great quality stamps & I’ve actually not used stamps in a physical sense today but their digital stamps (which is the same design of one of their stamps too!).

I’ve linked the picture to the actual digital file page. You don’t need an actual stamp to create my project, in fact, the stamp wouldn’t enable you to make this little gift. This digital file is just what you need! In case you’re wondering; it’s a layered hot chocolate gift- all ready to pop into a pan or microwave (reserving the choc and peppermint candy pieces until the drink is made) and makes a super easy gift for someone.

choc3I have shared some projects created with my Silhouette Cameo before & this was created with the Add A Little Dazzle Scarlet Red & Brushed Bronze metal and some gorgeous vinyl. The supplies work together beautifully.

Brushed Bronze

Because Neat & Tangled create these as files which are downloaded as JPEGs or PNG files, you can print, colour, or, as I did, trace them in my Silhouette Studio software & cut out sections in both metal and vinyl. Now, due to the miniature size of the tag- I couldn’t cut the file exactly as it is, so I had to remove the tinier elements so I could actually cut the metal & the vinyl.

The Cameo is fab- but you need to be gentle with it-especially when it comes to cutting metal. Slow speeds are crucial with metal. I have it cutting at the slowest speed and the Blade at about 9-10. Part of the reason I’ve a higher no is that my blade isn’t super-new.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the actual stamp! I have used another stamp set for the tag; ‘Gifts For You’
