Get Stamping! & more parties!

20131127-133117.jpg
If any of you have missed this publication- do look out for it. It not only has a fresh and clean approach to its design but comes with a fab set of stamps and the majority of the projects use the set in different styles. The accompanying stamp set is A4 sized and this is one of my projects in there. I was given the task of simply embossing. One of those things you often bypass on your way to the latest and most exciting trend. It was good to get back to basics and do some shrink plastic tags which again I’ve not tried on ages.

This is where you can find out more about the mag Its every 8 weeks and worth subscribing to. I’ve not found it locally- would be interesting to hear where you’ve all seen it?

At the mo I’m planning two parties. One for a lovely girl who’s heading back to the States (wonder if I could hide in her suitcase?!!) and the other is for Will aka ‘mr reluctant party’er’. He’s come around to the idea and is busy helping with the planning.
The only game he actually wants to play is ‘Don’t Eat Tommy Smartie’. The woman who invented this game needs a medal. A truly bizarre game with the ability to turn kids into a giggling mass!
You have a plate of smarties ( obviously limit the amount on there or there’ll be a ton of green faced kids moping around your celebration). 10-20 smarties. The kid ‘on’ leaves the room.
The rest of the kids decide and choose a particular smartie. Try to get them NOT to touch the sweets! The ‘on’ kid comes back in and chooses one and eats it. He continues to eat until he picks up the smartie and everyone screams ‘don’t eat Tommy Smartie’.
Yup.
I thought it sounded ‘lame’ ( to quote Will) too. But honestly- it was THE party game everyone loved.
Go figure.

Right- with 2 bouncy boys at home ‘sick’ (or not as the case is), my time is definitely not my own
See you soon when I’ll have been totally baked and partied out!
PS-the find the pony game still stands. Naughty Taheerah hid a pony in one of my posts. There’s a stampy prize up for grabs!

Mystery Christmas Stamp Set!

milkandcookieschristmas

Morning, morning! I was hunting through my sets and decided to do a Christmas card but using an utterly non seasonal set. Guessed which set?

Milk and Cookies! So which other sets did you use, I hear you ask? None! As soon as I looked carefully at the set., I saw the straw and immediately thought candy canes! Due to the perfect flexible nature of the photopolymer, these babies can be curled & altered. I really took the straw to the max- it only just stayed in that position. Once I curled and stamped to the left, I curled the other way & stamped again.

I trimmed out most of the middle of the milk bottle & around the edge, so we could see the canes showing through.

The wreath? How did I make that? See the closeup…

I used these two elements-

wreathleaves

The little circle is the centre of the wreath. The single line (which is normally used as the meniscus)

I simply curved around a little on my block and put one end on the circle & just systematically moved it around.

Just shows how with a little sneaky thinking you can create something completely unintended from the set.

Go and twist your sets!

At present there’s a little ‘bug’ going around the family. It didn’t last for long fortunately but due to school rules I ‘ve got two very happy and lively boys off. Anyone would think they didn’t want to be at school 😉 Let’s just say that my car got an impromptu clean yesterday.

It was a thorough clean. You know when that ‘smell’ just gets into your nostrils and you can smell it everywhere?! Worst still, my lovely Mum bought some soup for lunch. It was lentil and bacon with carrots. And you guessed it- it looked JUST LIKE…..

My friend Taheerah still has my password to this blog. Yesterday she told me she’d hidden a tiny pony in one of my posts. I’ve yet to find it- if anyone can find it, there’s a stampy prize up for grabs. That naughty Taheerah-I’d better change the password pronto!
