Clearly Besotted Release Day – Naughty or Mice !

It’s Release Day! Yay!! Hasn’t it been an amazing release! So much fun and Christmassy goodness. Today is a bit of a fail. The idea had promise but never quite delivered. I do think it’s important to show the highs and lows- so maybe you can scrape an idea out of the germ of inspiration! The set is called Naughty or Mice. Originally I had visions of the mice bungee jumping off the top of the Christmas tree. It all went downhill from there 😉

You’ll forgive me for thinking that this card ended up looking like a 10 year old did it- although it took more time than any of the others did! I just cut out a Christmas tree shape and line with acetate. I coloured in a trunk and added it to the front with foam pads.

Don’t they look perfect all swinging from the tree…all except the snowman who can’t because he’s melting with all the central heating on at full blast! Is he a mouse or an interloper? Who knows until the snow melts!

Stuff a load of gold sequins to the back of the tree shape and add the foam pads. Seal with a piece of green cardstock and ta-daah, you have a card your kid would be proud of 😉

There’s still more to see over on the Clearly Besotted Blog and don’t forget about the Facebook giveaway where you could win the whole release! Michelle and Lisa have their release projects too.

We also have Keeway joining in again, so do visit her blog. Francine and Caly round off your daily dose of inspiration and hopefully give you a final clue about which sets to choose. Which have been your favourites so far?

The release goes live at 8pm GMT. All sets are available tonight on the Clearly Besotted store and also from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for all your lovely comments this release- it’s been a joy to share all my projects with you!

I’ll be with you again soon,

Clearly Besotted October Teasers – Baa Humbug

Well hello again! I hope you’re having a good day. Today’s post is being brought to you by Grumpy, Narky and Fedup. We probably all the trio; those dear souls that are a delight every day of the year, but at Christmas they really come into their own. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they delight in making everyone’s Christmas utterly wonderful (inject a supreme dose of sarcasm).

Aren’t they funny?! Well I added in one of the previous set’s images ; ‘Daschund Through’ for the background and then did a little masking for the Christmas tree to be behind the double stamped fence. I just love Narky (which is a Liverpool phrase for cross or grumpy) plopped atop the fence, trying to the block out the sumptuously lit Christmas tree.

I think that sheep perfectly epitomises all the wrong things about Christmas- or is he a eco- waaarior? It might be a statement against cutting down trees and preserving the environment! We do have a rather old fake tree which has offset its carbon footprint due to being hauled out each year. Truth be told, trees that drop needles are just another job to cope with at the busiest time of year, so a fake one suits me just fine!

So, poor old Fedup is slightly constricted by the lights wrapped around him by Grumpy who took exception to him mentioning that his hat was on crooked. They make a fine group and their ascerbic wit keeps them all company! This set is perfect for all the scrooges amongst us, or just those who enjoy a good smile at Christmas time.

We’re nearly at Release Day- only one more sleep! Until that point, do visit the Clearly Besotted Blog, then patter over to Lisa and Michelle. Not forgetting Caly or Francine too, who’ve had such lovely projects so far.

I’ll see you tomorrow with a project that looks like a 10 year old made it!!

Clearly Besotted October Teasers – Holiday Huskies

Hello again! Hope you’re having a good day. We’re up to Day 2 of the October Teasers and we’ve a house removal operation underway. Don’t you wish you could move house quickly and easily…well you can!

These holiday huskies are taking matters into their own hands! I thought I’d turn the scene on it’s head; having the fellow husky steering the sleigh, and his dog-mates helping out rather than being controlled by a human. Imagine just being able to lift your entire belongings on a sledge and just shifting it all at once. Definitely a call to minimalistic living!

Aren’t they adorable! I’ve coloured them pretty simply. I’d like to tell you about the salt technique on watercolour to create the background, but I can’t; I cheated with ready made paper! Sometimes the short cuts are the best!! 😉

I trimmed out some cardstock to make a slightly hilly scene and added some glitter just like the newly fallen snow that sparkles!

This is definitely the way to do removals!! I then added some twine. I did have cut into the poor huskies necks to position the twine, but they assured me it didn’t hurt and they’re not actually real, so I didn’t need to worry 😂.

I do hope you’re enjoying these teasers. There are lots of sentiments I could have added, but chose to leave it blank. There are some winter birthdays that I might use this for, or even a Christmas card.

Now it’s time to do the rounds, beginning with the Clearly Besotted Blog, then to drag your sled over to Lisa and Michelle’s blogs. Last, but not least are Caly and Francis too!

I’ll see you all tomorrow, with a slower party! xx

Clearly Besotted October Teasers – Daschund Through!

Hello everyone! It’s a cold September for sure, but here to warm the cockles of your hearts is Clearly Besotted’s first set of Christmas stamps. The team are here to bring you teasers each day from the bumper release and my projects are all about fun this month.

I’m combining two sets ; ‘Daschund Through’ and ‘Seasonal Scenes’. I wanted to make a scene with the doggies dashing through the Christmas town!

I kept the colour palette limited for the town scene, using lots of greys so your eyes are drawn towards the front of the scene where the daschunds are.

I can almost imagine what sort of items are on sale in each of the shops; lots of Christmassy ‘nick-nacks’ suitable for decorating your home and filling your stockings. Another has the yummiest treats baked by a superb old lady with magic in her baking hands!

Meanwhile, those two friends are ‘daschund’ down the snowy pavement, trying to ignore the fact that their little paws are freezing. They both forgot to wear their wellies! Utterly Pawfect!! I have no idea how Amber is keeping those antlers perched on her head but maybe it’s similar to the magnets that keep her false eyelashes on!!

The whole scene was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured in with alcohol markers. Nothing fancy, just basic colouring.

We have more inspiration than usual this morning. The stellar line up begins at the Clearly Besotted Blog and then we have Michelle and Lisa.

It’s really lovely to welcome back Francis Vuillème and another lovely guest; Caly Person.

Tomorrow I’m back with another teaser, perfect for sending a seasonal ‘moving home’ card!

Clearly Besotted December Teasers Day 3

Hello lovely people! I know people are loving the new release, and I am too!! Today I’m looking at a set called ‘Shake It Up’..all about snow globes but you could use it for your planners and so much more!

Now the outside is simply a ‘come and look inside’ call. I stamped it, trimmed out inside the shape and stamped some acetate with the little snow flurry from the set. Now open up….

That penguin is just the cutest!! I stacked them carefully so you can just glimpse them on the outside. The trees are such a lovely design and I can see these going on little tags too. I decided to add a little more detail on the front using the sentiment set and…shhh…I even cut it up to fit on the card better!! Yes, I could have masked it- but I don’t always have time for that!

Once I’d coloured the bottom of the globe, I wanted to add a little detail. The curve in the set is perfect for the landscape part of your scene- but I thought looked a little like mini bunting string! Simply add some Nuvo drops and you’ve got a front of the card that hopefully doesn’t look so CAS that it actually looks bare!!

Hope you’ve enjoyed a look at this set. Please pop over to the Clearly Besotted blog and then do visit Michelle and Lisa to see what they’ve created too!

See you tomorrow with a project that combines 3 new sets!!

Clearly Besotted December Teasers Day 2

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Day 2 of Teasers before the Clearly Besotted Release on the 1st of December.

I’ve chosen one of the most beautiful sets in this release – ‘Picture It Christmas’. This is one of the most versatile sets; which you’ll see if you look at the rest of the team. I wanted to create a wintery look with not a lot of need for colouring!

I absolutely love the snowy sky. You may not know that last month, Clearly Besotted brought out a whole range of stencils. This one is called Snow Day- and it will be coming back into stock shortly but check on that link as there are plenty of others to give the same effect.

You can see the sparkle in the sky- I actually used some PaperArtsy Chalk Fresco paint through the stencil and then added some Nuvo drops to give a little glitter!

The sentiment is using the Cheerful Calligraphy set which I absolutely love and gives a contemporary font to whatever style of project you’re creating.

Well I hope you like this set- it’s classic and elegant and so much you can do by changing the sky and adding ‘snow’ etc.

So please continue on to see the Clearly Besotted blog . Don’t forget about the talented duo that are Lisa and Michelle to see what they’ve created too x

See you tomorrow for an entirely CAS card for a change!!

Clearly Besotted October Teasers Day 2

Hello again! Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Thankyou for all your lovely comments across social media about yesterday’s post. Seems like everyone loves angels!

Today, we’re changing gear and looking at a thoroughly wintry scene using the new set ‘Christmas Hoot’. The little owls also come with matching dies, so you can die-cut to your hearts content!

I had some navy pearlescent card lying around and thought it would make a good base…

Aren’t they the hootest!! The lamppost isn’t a stamp- just sketched onto a piece of cardstock, coloured in and trimmed out. Google is your friend in these situations; just search for whatever image you need and sketch away. Failing that, print it out and trace around it!

I coloured in using Nuvo Alcohol markers and simply added a flurry of snow using Nuvo drops in Pearl.

They look like they’re having the greatest time. I suspect they’ve been carol singing and the owl on the left got really into the song but he has an issue with timing, and because of the bells on his jumper, he was ringing out of time and the other owls got really cross and abandoned the Christmas sing along. He does look a little forlorn with his lit up Pound shop antlers, but the other owls are making the best of it and then they’re all heading off home for hoot chocolate!! 😂

Well we’re going more sophisticated tomorrow, so please pop back again!

Before then, Lisa

and Michelle would love you to visit and of course, no Teasers day would be complete without a trip to the Clearly Besotted blog

See you tomorrow,

Keren x

Clearly Besotted September Teasers Day 3!

Happy Christmas! ( sorry- I really shouldn’t be talking about Christmas- but it does need mentioning in readiness! ).

Today I’ve used a non-Christmas set called ‘Wishful Thinking’. It’s an incredibly beautiful set of floral images and I stingily picked out the fauna as I had this design in my head

Aren’t those images stunning? It’s such a easy wreath and will be even easier using the accompanying dies! I used the ‘Into The Woods‘ set for the background in a grey ink. I adore the softness of grey!

The sentiments can be mixed and matched for so many occasions. I’ve added a few little Nuvo ‘Red Berries’ drops and a teeny red elastic bow. It’s not a complicated card and with the dies speeding up the process , I can see me creating quite a few of these!

I can’t wait to make cards using the lovely floral images too.

It’s time to see what my other talented teamed have created today!

Do visit

Michelle and Lisa

Thanks so much for visiting and do pop back to see another teaser tomorrow!

My sponsor today is a company close to my heart…Winnie & Walter !! Fabulous stamps, dies and stencils all created with love!! So.. on to my project!IMG_2603

I’ve used a mix of the brand new release plus some other products . The main sentiment is using the stamp and die set In A Word: Merry and the In A Word: Holiday Tiles Cutaways .

I’ve stamped the merry with mistletoe from the In Bloom: Elsa’s Flora onto the cutout word with Metro Grey Hybrid ink from Tonic Studios and then stamped in black onto a separate piece of cardIMG_2604

Hopefully you can see the detail on that and then mounted them together onto some printed acetate. Add the Christmas bit from the Holiday Tiles and then arrange some of the foliage from the Elsa’s Flora set behind and on top of the acetate piece.IMG_2605

The gorgeous background that you can see peeking through is a dry embossed piece using the Grand Trellis Creative Screening. I love the effect it gives and makes stencil no-mess too (which at this time of year is so appreciated!!)

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Winnie & Walter so you’ll definitely want to win! Winnie and Walter Nov Premiere Day 3

Happy Thursday! I’m here again with a few more sets from the new Winnie and Walter release. Here’s what I created!

I think the main star is the Cover Model: Do You See What I See? It’s one of the cleverest dies I know of as there are so many patterns- so the ‘do you see what I see’ is completely apt! Having spent a lot of time in the quilting and sewing world I love creating patterns and this 6 point star is typical of a quilt pattern.

The leaves and sentiment are from a new set ‘In Bloom: Victoria’s Very Merry Flowers with Lydia Evans’ (phew- that’s a mouthful!!). After stamping, I dotted some embossing ink on the leaves and then added some White embossing powder to look like a little snow. The gold ampersand is using a die from a previous set Typecast: Cary Number Cutaways

I’ve shown you a closeup for a caution! I used a transfer adhesive sheet- and never have any problems but really- always reduce the level of adhesive by sticking it to your jeans or something; just what I should have done- and because I didn’t, I lifted several of the shape’s top layers.

Do check out the Winnie and Walter blog to see what the rest of the team have created for today!

See you soon
