Clearly Besotted August Teasers Day 1 – Dive Right In

Hi everyone! How are you all?

It’ great to be diving into a new round of teasers (sorry!) with the new set Dive Right In. I love that this has the scene, the plushies and the extras; all in one set. Want to see?

The background was actually pretty quick. Quicker still was the fact I’d made it a while back using a gel plate and I was short on time so had a quick rifle through some pre-prepared backgrounds and this one was just perfect.

I did some pretty simple colouring- and love the green, coral and brown combo.

I have to admit, I’ve always fancied diving to explore a ship wreck- although they’re always deep down in very murky waters. If it was bright and well-lit like this scene, I’d be there in a shot! So the background was made using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics which are my paint of choice and vastly superior to any other paint I’ve used. The rest is just simple Alcohol marker colouring in. Very therapeutic.

I’d love to know what these two fish were chatting about. Whatever it is, they both seem very happy under the sea.

There’s always lots to ‘sea’ over at the Clearly Besotted Blog, and we’ve got Michelle and Lisa’s blogs for more loveliness too. We’ve also got the fab Keeway Tsao joining us for this release too, so do pop to see her!

See you tomorrow!

Clearly Besotted October Teasers Day 3

Hello everyone!

Thanks for coming back to the blog today. We’re already on Day 3 of the Clearly Besotted Teasers. Time has gotten away from me, so there’s no story ( some of you will be relieved not to have to scroll down so much 😂).

Today is bright and tuneful and cute and weird! I decided that card really could be any colour they wanted, so whether it was a natural dye or they were born that way, I thought it was time for a green and aqua feline to join the ranks of the norm.

Isn’t this set delightful!! It’s called ‘Sing It’s Christmas’.

Now you might be wondering how I blended the background so perfectly!! I cheated. I just used some blended style paper from Hobbycraft 😉. I’m all for shortcuts! I added a few more lampposts as there is nothing more annoying than trying to read carols in the dark when you can’t read the alto line! These cats are making a vaguely tuneful din..I added a subtle stamped music image at the top to help create depth.

I live using Nuvo Drops and the White Blizzard is perfect on coloured card as it takes the colour. The drops ended up looking like rain which is thoroughly appropriate for Dec too!

I do love these little moggies. They were all coloured in using Nuvo Alcohol markers. Back tomorrow with some shenanigans!!

It’s time to visit Clearly Besotted’s blog, and then see Michelle and Lisa and not forgetting Joy Taylor

Clearly Besotted October Release- Trimming The Tree

Happy Friday! I’m back with the last of the cards using the new release..the last for the moment at least ! I have some more cards planned with some of the other fab sets, but that’ll have to wait for a week.

I’ve used the Trimming The Tree set which I thought was such fun. It’s temporarily sold out in the Clearly Besotted Store but Jenny is reordering it so sign up to be contacted when it’s back in or it can be purchased from Simon Says Stamp

Yes. As soon as I saw this set- and saw the ladder- I just knew the bunny was going to fall off it. It’s totally the sort of thing I’d do too!

I’ve not really stamped on glitter paper before but found it really easy- I just used Nuvo Black Hybrid i and heat set it.

It was an easy card to come together and reminds me to be careful on stepladders ( Haha!)

I hope you have a lovely weekend. I’m at Port Sunlight tomorrow so do say Hi if you’re there and I’m at the Quilting show at Alexandra Palace next week with Fiskars, so do pop and see me if you’re there too!

Take care,

Keren xx

Clearly Besotted Release!

They’re back! It’s been a wait- but hopefully after you’ve seen the release, you’ll see it’s been worth the wait!

All sets are available for purchase tonight about 6pm at the Clearly Besotted store plus Simon Says Stamp too.

Today I’m going to just show you one set. This set speaks to my music loving heart. I have had to play in similar situations to this guy, and he looks so at home with the concert performance- obviously a seasoned pro!

It originally didn’t have sequins.

I wasn’t originally eating cake.

You can guess why it ended up needing sequins then 😂

The set has lots of orchestral performers with some great sentiments too. This next card is an inside out one really. Truth be told, I’ve not even designed the front- but when I do, it’ll have a belly band around it, to keep the little performers from popping up too early!

I’ve attached them to the base with acetate hinges. I’ve adhered the hinges to the reverse of the music.

Creating the centre was easy. Firstly I folded a piece of card, drew a curve mimicking an open book on one side and then cut the folded piece so it was cut both sides at once.
Then use this cut off piece as the template for the bottom edge. Trace the template onto the middle to make perfectly curved music paper and trace over with black pen when it’s all done. Stamp out the music so it looks a proper piece and then finish adding the characters and a sentiment.

Do visit the Clearly Besotted blog plus check out the other DT’s projects- they’ll have posts at some point today. Michelle has done a release video which is live now.

Debby Hughes

Well, I’m back tomorrow with two fun cards using the cutest of characters!

See you then!

Clearly Besotted August Teasers Day 2

Teaser Time

Hi! Welcome to Day 2 of Clearly Besotted Teasers!

There are wonderful sets as usual and today, I’m showing you a couple of scene cards using the Hip Hop Hooray set and Deer To Me.

First up..The Vikings (Hip Hop Hooray)IMG_6553

When I think of the Vikings, I think of Up Helly Aa and viking boat burning (& other inaccuracies) and well, I just thought they wouldn’t make a very good scene ;-). My next thought was’BIG’. Well, for some reason, I equate big to Vikings…and when I looked at the stamp set and saw all the food, I imagined a giant sized table fit to bursting.

I thought having the table 3D and using acetate as the base would be fun, and naturally the baby wanted to sit on the chicken. The little dog called Ving, was hovering around for scraps, which would come eventually (the chicken leg is just a trimmed off part of the chicken stamp).

All in all, it made me rather hungry! The table is simply an embossed piece of brown cardstock and adhered to a tent folded acetate base. Granted, the baby is NOT drinking beer, but it’s there simply for artistic effect!

Next up, an entirely more tranquil scene.

Or maybe not.

Think of deers, frolicking in the forest, with lots of beautiful scenery to play amongst?IMG_6554

Or maybe, they just have fun with redundant logs and tree stumps that the humans haven’t purloined just quite yet! It was whilst trying to make the scene work (I colour and cut out the elements and then play around with the shapes), that one of the trees was lying on my desk at an angle, and I thought ‘seesaw’!IMG_6555

The wreaths around their necks are just the bush flowers stamped and cut out. I’ve cut out around the legs so I could slot them onto the see-saw more realistically.

Who knows what the deer get up whilst we’re not looking?!

Please go and join Stephanie and the rest of the DT, with special guests Jen Nelson and Rubeena Naz over on the blog. You’re sure to be blown away!

See you tomorrow for some more sneak peeks!

Clearly Besotted July Teasers Day 2

Teaser Time

Hey! Welcome to Day 2 of the Clearly Besotted July Release teasers!

Today I’m just showing you one set. Probably my second favourite set of the bunch. It’s called Colour Chameleon and has the cutest little guys inIMG_5980

Little Chummy (it could be his real name!) is sat chilling on a leaf and is balancing a paintbrush from the end of a leaf. Obviously the paintbrush is dripping a beautiful rainbow of colour .

IMG_5987Isn’t he just so sweet.

The next image is of Chummy with a crayon. You could have him making a splash of colour with some of the colour ‘swipe’ stamps but I thought he was clinging onto the crayon rather tightly and maybe just maybe he was jetting off to space on his crayon rocket.

The clouds aren’t from this set (they’re from the ‘Trouble in a Tutu) set and I’ve stamped them in Pearl Sky Blue Brilliance. Brilliance is a great pad, as it’s easy to pull colour away from the stamped lines and create a soft cloud effect.

I’ve just swiped coloured inkpads over the solid stamp and then trimmed out. I hope the jets give way soon as poor Chummy is holding on for dear life!

Do visit the Clearly Besotted blog to see what Stephanie and the rest of the team  plus two very special guests have created. I love seeing everyone’s take on each set!

See you tomorrow

The Final Countdown!

Hi everyone! It’s the final countdown

The stamps and dies will be available in the store and also at Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson tonight at 10pm (BST)…
and just in case you weren’t sure which sets to choose, I thought I’d leave you with one final project from the ‘Let’s Party’ (mini A7 set)
It might be a smaller set, but it has everything you need to make the cutest invites or Birthday cards, or something with a little dimension like this!..

Those of you who are regulars at this blog will know I have a ‘thing’ for creating ‘off the card’ cards (if that makes any sense).

I created a folded card using a die (leaving the top fold pushed down towards the centre of the die slightly which meant it doesn’t cut the fold and so creates a mini blank.

I stamped all of the balloons and cut them out. There is a word of warning here… not all inks are created equal. Just saying. Some are perfectly marvellous for small areas or sentiments, but give them a little expanse of solid image and they get blotchy.

If you ever get this, ink it first with Versamark ink and then ink with your chosen colour. It won’t make a perfect image, but a much more even inking than before!

You can hopefully see where some of the acetate ‘strings’ are. I stacked them onto the base using strips of double sided tape to keep them secure and then added another die cut shaped over the top to hide the ‘workings’.

Add the lovely scripty font and you’ve a fun invite for any age!

See you soon!

Clearly Besotted Teasers Day 4

Teaser Time

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by on Day 4 of the May sneak peeks!

Thankyou so much for the wealth of lovely comments- it really makes me smile knowing you’ve enjoyed seeing what I create. Today has the Owl Factor.

Owl you need is love! (sorry!)IMG_5133

This newly wedded couple (from the set ‘Mr & Mrs Hoot’) are beginning their lives in feathered bliss (ha ha!) The stamp set has a swing image, and I thought it can’t very well have a swing if doesn’t, well…swing!

So, I die-cut an aperture and then stamped and coloured the owls and swing. I punched a very small hole in the swing base and the top of the card and threaded it through.

Alas, I’d not worked out how they’d balance, and let’s just say the owls were not sitting straight, so I glued the twine behind Mrs Owl and now she’s fine.

I do give a hoot about that sort of thing 😉

Once I’d done, it just looked too plain and boring. Needed a little something extra.

Some bunting hanging from the seat just set it off perfectly. You can’t see it, but the glasses are all Glossy Accent’ed up and the sentiment is from the set.

The next card is fairly standard- I was going to try and weave a little humour into the card, but Mrs Owl was very firm with me and told me to behave myself.

So whoooo was I to disagree 😉

This will make a great card ready for the end of term. I’m never quite organised enough but at least one teacher has a card ready now– the question will be whether I can find it when I actually need it!

The class are all busy learning owlgebra….. I’ll stop now!

The set is really clever- you have one desk outline and the different animals easily line up into that. One sweet guy on the back row has given the teacher his apple. The cat on the front is looking a little perplexed as I forgot to stamp any paper for her to write on and she’s so well behaved, she wouldn’t dream of scribbling on the desk!

‘A Class Act’ set makes a wonderful scene doesn’t it! Clever Clearly Besotted!

We’ve one more round of peeks before you can purchase the sets! The stamps and dies will be available in the store and also at Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson tomorrow at 10pm (BST)…

I shall see you tomorrow with a very sensible card before you get the chance to buy your favourites. Do come back, I don’t want to be owl by myself! (ha ha!).

Clearly Besotted Stamps Teaser Day 3

It’s March- and I’m really delighted to be back sharing with the Clearly Besotted Stamp’s March releaseTeaser Time

You already must know that Clearly Besotted do flower stamps so exquisitely. Well this ‘From All of Us’ set is the perfect example.

There are 3 flower images plus some lovely scripty sentiments. I’ve mirrored the images

and coloured in using Prismacolor pencils.IMG_4174

My second set for today is using the same set but in a different way and using some of the other flowers in the set.IMG_4300 (1)

These bluebells immediately make me think of shady woods and floors crammed with a carpet of bluebells. They are a stunning design aren’t they?. I’ve masked a couple of them to give them a grouping.IMG_4304

I’ve coloured these with Zig Clean Color markers and I white embossed the flowers first.

I know that Stephanie and the team will have tonnes of inspiration for you so please pop over to the blog and see what loveliness they’ve all created.

If you’re not a regular to this blog or to Clearly Besotted’s release programme. We’ll be posting every day up to and including March 5th, when at 10pm GMT they’ll be available to purchase.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 4 of the Teasers..tomorrow we’re going cute- and cute with bells on!!

Clearly Besotted October Release Day!

Teaser Time

Hi! Welcome to Release Day for Clearly Besotted’s October Release. You’ve a few hours yet- they are available from 10pm.. but hopefully a few more projects to whet your appetite whilst you wile away the hours 😉

First up… the Giving Thanks set

photo 1-73

I thought I’d go pink. Why have green wheelbarrows when you can go girly!

I’ve cut out the middle so it’s more interesting! I re-stamped the apples and added a thin black line around the apples so there was a complete one and added it to the floor to give the scene more dimension.

This next one is using just a die and a sentiment from the Warm Solutions II set. I love the idea that coffee gives colour to life so wanted to use watercolours to give a rainbow of splashes down the cups.

photo 1-73 copy

Last, and not least is a set called Home At Christmas.

photo 5-15

It’s hard to see- but I’ve stamped the image onto acetate and have painted it from the reverse side.

photo 2-71

It creates a lovely effect, just have to watch the lines carefully! I used a nail art brush which is superfine and managed within reason!

Hope you’ve enjoyed a little look at this lovely release. There are more sets than I’ve been able to create with, but there are sets for everybody!

Do go and see the full release on the blog and pop over to the store at 10pm and beyond to gets your inky mitts on your favourites!

It’s been so lovely guesting with Clearly Besotted. Thanks to Stephanie and the team  for having me!

See you all soon x
