Clearly Besotted May Teasers Day 1: Scouse Seahorses

Hello lovely blog readers.

That title isn’t meant to be insulting, but it is provocative! Having lived in the wonderful city of Liverpool for over 20 years- I thought I’d have a comment on it!

Scouse girlies locally are known for dressing up to go out, and they take getting ready really seriously. When I started colouring these seahorses, I went with a rather unusual colour combo- you could say that it’s a little like the old style packaging of Refreshers sweets! But I did want a little glamour; bold and bright and just like the girl groups you’ll find out and about on the streets of Liverpool, all dressed to the nines and full of fun!

Aren’t they just gorgeous! I wanted to create a syngnathid of seahorses (yes, I had to google the collective noun for them). I love the plumes and eyelashes. I wanted to cluster them together so they looked like they were going out! All the colouring was using Nuvo Alcohol markers.

I decided to build the scene using some gold cardstock and foam pads. I love how you can create scenes using all the little images from the set. The other thing that reminds me of scouse girls is the ‘curls’ on the seahorses. I remember being really surprised a few years ago seeing so many girls out in their curlers- they were everywhere. I became quite used to it, until one day I went for a coffee and the girl serving me was actually wearing rollers. I couldn’t peel my eyes away!

Anyhow, this next picture shows you all the dimension and the shimmying girls going out out.

The set is a called ‘Sweet Seahorses’ and I can see it being used for lots of occasions!

Don’t go swimming off before you’ve popped across to the Clearly Besotted Blog,

then wriggle over to see Michelle & Lisa.

I am back tomorrow with a Traditional Village Fayre or possibly a classy bring and buy! 😉

A little more Clearly Besotted!

Hi there! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. Here’s another post with some more Clearly Besotted ideas. With not having monthly releases like there used to be, hopefully the pared back schedule will make it easier all round plus you will get to enjoy the sets at a more leisurely pace!

The French and poodle set aptly named ‘Poodle Around’ is gorgeous and great for girls / dog lovers or Francophiles. The poodles are really cute and are in a wealth of poses. I’ve made it into a mini card/gift tag. The Eiffel Tower is stamped onto acetate and trimmed out and adhered onto the tag. I liked the way it straddled two colours. Love this set!

Coffee fans will go beans (ok, nuts) over this set’; Warm Solutions IV. It’s a mini set- but I love how you can add different cup jackets and I’ve hung them like a window dressing display.

See the background? That’s the Scene It I talked about yesterday- it’s supposed to be giving the ideas of looking out into the street. I’m going to get lots of mileage from this useful background set.

I’d love to know which of the sets so far have been your favourite. Next up to create with is the Fluffy Flamingos and Garden Gnomes sets- but you’ll have to keep an eye out for those; coming soon!

Hope you’re having a superb weekend, and I’ll catch you soon!

Clearly Besotted Release Day 2

Whilst the whole release is already available ( Clearly Besotted is mixing things up a bit), I thought I’d show you another two sets; Cha Cha Cha with Scene It

I will probably shock you when I say that I’ve never seen Dirty Dancing, but know enough about it to mix up two of the most iconic scenes in this card. They’re obviously wearing the dance gear in the famous dance but are doing the ‘water practising’ bit.

Yes, I know that their expensive dancing clothes are now extremely wet and unlikely to dry out in time- but these pigs are living on the edge!!

The Scene It set is perfect for using with your previous Clearly Besotted sets (and all the ones you’re going to ignore your bank balance over in purchasing). This is probably (well almost) my favourite set. Such a lot of fun!

The dancing pigs are perfect for lots of occasions.

The glitter ball is indeed glittery! Some adhesive glitter paper stamped over with Stazon. The add on images make creating this card really easy. No masking needed- just adhere the lit up part onto your card, add the glitter ball and the pigs and then you’re done!

Do go and visit the Clearly Besotted blog for more inspiration. The way the releases are happening are a little different this time. You’ll find that the Design Team will just release projects and inspiration throughout the days and weeks coming. Do follow us on Instagram or Facebook plus obviously we’ll keep our blogs updated.

I have another post tomorrow, so do pop back to see a little more Clearly Besotted!

See you soon,

(and happy shopping!)

Clearly Besotted Release!

They’re back! It’s been a wait- but hopefully after you’ve seen the release, you’ll see it’s been worth the wait!

All sets are available for purchase tonight about 6pm at the Clearly Besotted store plus Simon Says Stamp too.

Today I’m going to just show you one set. This set speaks to my music loving heart. I have had to play in similar situations to this guy, and he looks so at home with the concert performance- obviously a seasoned pro!

It originally didn’t have sequins.

I wasn’t originally eating cake.

You can guess why it ended up needing sequins then 😂

The set has lots of orchestral performers with some great sentiments too. This next card is an inside out one really. Truth be told, I’ve not even designed the front- but when I do, it’ll have a belly band around it, to keep the little performers from popping up too early!

I’ve attached them to the base with acetate hinges. I’ve adhered the hinges to the reverse of the music.

Creating the centre was easy. Firstly I folded a piece of card, drew a curve mimicking an open book on one side and then cut the folded piece so it was cut both sides at once.
Then use this cut off piece as the template for the bottom edge. Trace the template onto the middle to make perfectly curved music paper and trace over with black pen when it’s all done. Stamp out the music so it looks a proper piece and then finish adding the characters and a sentiment.

Do visit the Clearly Besotted blog plus check out the other DT’s projects- they’ll have posts at some point today. Michelle has done a release video which is live now.

Well, I’m back tomorrow with two fun cards using the cutest of characters!

See you then!

The Final Countdown!

Hi everyone! It’s the final countdown

The stamps and dies will be available in the store and also at Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson tonight at 10pm (BST)…
and just in case you weren’t sure which sets to choose, I thought I’d leave you with one final project from the ‘Let’s Party’ (mini A7 set)
It might be a smaller set, but it has everything you need to make the cutest invites or Birthday cards, or something with a little dimension like this!..

Those of you who are regulars at this blog will know I have a ‘thing’ for creating ‘off the card’ cards (if that makes any sense).

I created a folded card using a die (leaving the top fold pushed down towards the centre of the die slightly which meant it doesn’t cut the fold and so creates a mini blank.

I stamped all of the balloons and cut them out. There is a word of warning here… not all inks are created equal. Just saying. Some are perfectly marvellous for small areas or sentiments, but give them a little expanse of solid image and they get blotchy.

If you ever get this, ink it first with Versamark ink and then ink with your chosen colour. It won’t make a perfect image, but a much more even inking than before!

You can hopefully see where some of the acetate ‘strings’ are. I stacked them onto the base using strips of double sided tape to keep them secure and then added another die cut shaped over the top to hide the ‘workings’.

Add the lovely scripty font and you’ve a fun invite for any age!

See you soon!

Clearly Besotted Teasers Day 4

Teaser Time

Hi everyone and thanks for dropping by on Day 4 of the May sneak peeks!

Thankyou so much for the wealth of lovely comments- it really makes me smile knowing you’ve enjoyed seeing what I create. Today has the Owl Factor.

Owl you need is love! (sorry!)IMG_5133

This newly wedded couple (from the set ‘Mr & Mrs Hoot’) are beginning their lives in feathered bliss (ha ha!) The stamp set has a swing image, and I thought it can’t very well have a swing if doesn’t, well…swing!

So, I die-cut an aperture and then stamped and coloured the owls and swing. I punched a very small hole in the swing base and the top of the card and threaded it through.

Alas, I’d not worked out how they’d balance, and let’s just say the owls were not sitting straight, so I glued the twine behind Mrs Owl and now she’s fine.

I do give a hoot about that sort of thing 😉

Once I’d done, it just looked too plain and boring. Needed a little something extra.

Some bunting hanging from the seat just set it off perfectly. You can’t see it, but the glasses are all Glossy Accent’ed up and the sentiment is from the set.

The next card is fairly standard- I was going to try and weave a little humour into the card, but Mrs Owl was very firm with me and told me to behave myself.

So whoooo was I to disagree 😉

This will make a great card ready for the end of term. I’m never quite organised enough but at least one teacher has a card ready now– the question will be whether I can find it when I actually need it!

The class are all busy learning owlgebra….. I’ll stop now!

The set is really clever- you have one desk outline and the different animals easily line up into that. One sweet guy on the back row has given the teacher his apple. The cat on the front is looking a little perplexed as I forgot to stamp any paper for her to write on and she’s so well behaved, she wouldn’t dream of scribbling on the desk!

‘A Class Act’ set makes a wonderful scene doesn’t it! Clever Clearly Besotted!

We’ve one more round of peeks before you can purchase the sets! The stamps and dies will be available in the store and also at Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson tomorrow at 10pm (BST)…

I shall see you tomorrow with a very sensible card before you get the chance to buy your favourites. Do come back, I don’t want to be owl by myself! (ha ha!).

Clearly Besotted Teaser Time Day 3

Welcome back! Hi to anyone visiting for the first time (or squillionth time, for that matter!), it’s lovely to have you here.

Day 3- and a little less serious than yesterday…the animals are out and about!

First up…the turtles!IMG_5102

I saw the turtles stamp set and one of them is obviously designed to be swimming but I just saw ‘skydiver!’ Don’t you?

I’ve created some parachutes so they don’t land and become turtle soup!

I’ve freehand cut the clouds, adding a little Zig Clean Color marker to give the impression that it’s sky!

The second card- well, strictly  speaking they’re not animals… but if you have a bunch of toddlers in one confined space, you just might consider them as such 😉

I made a very simple bed and added a cute duvet from patterned paper- do they not look like they were supposed to be jumping on a bed?! I think these onesie babies are just so cute (and who doesn’t love a onesie party?…ermm that’d be me. You wouldn’t catch me in a onesie. Ever. But I’ll admit that these little ones can completely pull it off!).

Hope you’ve enjoyed these projects: tomorrow’s post involves a couple of fine feathered lovelies and a well behaved menagerie!

See you tomorrow!
