Clearly Besotted June Release Day!

Hello everyone! It’s finally here. You’ve all been so patient waiting for today, and not much longer until you can order the sets you’ve been after. Today I’ve got some simple projects.

Annoyingly, the portrait mode has slightly blurred the top of the card, but you can see the rest hopefully. I’ve used the add on set ; ‘Flower Friends Additions’ which is to go with the Flower Friends stamp set but it is a perfectly good set by itself. I love when Clearly Besotted bring out floral sets as they do them so well.

I’ve simply coloured them with alcohol markers and trimmed out the flowers. I added some of the wood effect paper to the bottom so it looked a little like a planter box you might have outside a window. Adding it to a black cardstock background helps the flowers to pop.

I’ve added the gel pen dots to give the card a little movement and life. Granted, I did do a lot of fussy cutting, but you wouldn’t need to necessarily. I also made a super quick tag using the Flower Friends set.

I love those hippos holding flowers – they’re sooo cute. They’re very easy to colour.

Well that’s all I have for this month; I didn’t cover all the sets, but if you have a look on the Clearly Besotted Blog, you’ll see all the sets plus on Facebook on their page you can enter to win the whole release.

There’s still Michelle and Lisa to visit it today, so do go and say Hi. Do also go to see Alberto @loshakeratoalberto on Instagram, Francine VuillemeKeeway Tsao and Kitty Day so there are lots of lovely blogs and Instagram to see today too.

As usual, the release goes live at 8pm GMT (BST). All sets are available tonight on the Clearly Besotted store and also from Simon Says Stamp , Art CreatiuCloud 9 Crafts and Card Nouveau too.

Thankyou for supporting us, as we share each day. Your comments are really valued and they really make my day.

Thanks,

Keren x

Clearly Besotted June Teasers Day 4

It’s Day 4 ! How are you? Today we’re looking at the ‘I Pick You’ set. I have used two of the bears who do indeed make the perfect pair.

I have no idea why I thought I’d do a pear shaped blank, but there we are. I simply sketched out a pear shape onto a tent folded piece of green cardstock. It didn’t go pear shaped, haha, and as pears aren’t completely symmetrical, you don’t need to worry about the shape either. I coloured and cut out the two characters and added lots of detail shading using Prismacolor pencils.

You can see the pencil marks still on there. I didn’t rub them off, but I guess you could. I trimmed out a stalk shape and added a side branch that was wedge shaped on the end so I had something to glue the leaf on. Adding details onto the leaf using alcohol markers. It’s surprisingly easy to make this shape as it’s so recognisable, so you don’t need to worry about being too precise.

You can see all the details. I added lots of speckling with dotting an alcohol marker to give shading and depth. I wonder what other fruits we could do to match this set. There’s certainly loads of inspiration in the I Pick You set.

It’s time to head over to the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto Lisa and Michelle. There’s also Alberto @loshakeratoalberto on Instagram, Francine VuillemeKeeway Tsao and Kitty Day so please go and encourage them with a visit and a comment.

It’s Release Day tomorrow (yay!) and I have a little floral card.

See you tomorrow, Keren x

Clearly Besotted June Teasers Day 3

Hi! I’m so glad you’ve loving the sneak peeks so far. Today we have an Olympic sport, and certainly not one I’d ever attempt. I loved watching it. So did Effie, who had always wanted to join in the Elephant Community Sport team but just couldn’t afford all the equipment. She loved a challenge and her mind went to the Pole Vault. That was one she longed to try. But how would she get over? How to sail over that striped pole high in the sky.

She’d heard stories of the magical blue flowers and how if you wished hard enough, they could help make your dreams come true. That morning, her mind was made up, she’d go and try to discover these evasive blooms. After a long morning, she was leaving the wood and out of the corner of her eye she saw a bluish tinge. Lolloping over she saw one really large blue blousy bloom. Without thinking she grabbed it and raced over to the community athletics track. She had no training or idea, she just tried to recall what the Olympians did and ran as far away from the poles as she could manage.

Gathering speed, so ran as quickly as her legs were carry her. With a jump, she squeezed the flower, wished with all her might and to her amazement she sailed up, light as a feather and sailed gently over the top pole. With complete exhilaration she looked down, feeling like a bird and gradually descended as a cloud back to the squidgy blue mat. Her dreams had come true.

The card was really easy to make. Firstly I added some washi tape around the edges of a tall card and then used the In The Clouds Stencil from Clearly Besotted. I just used Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I cut two strip of red cardstock to make the side struts and then a thinner piece of red cardstock to add some white/green cardstock with angled ends.

Using one of the main images from the new Flower Friends set, it was easy to colour! Obviously the flower stalk was what gave Effie the extra oomph to get over the bar.

You can see how I’ve added a darker coloured alcohol ink pen to the mat and side poles. It just helps give a slight dimension to the scene.

I love creating unexpected scenes from the fabulous Clearly Besotted images. I wonder what scenes you might imagine these flower holding elephants being involved with?

This month, we have lots of inspiration. The best start is to go to the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto Michelle and Lisa. We also have Alberto @loshakeratoalberto on Instagram, Francine VuillemeKeeway Tsao and Kitty Day so do visit them to see what they’ve been creating.

Hope to see you tomorrow with a some fruity fun.

Clearly Besotted June Teasers Day 2

Hi everyone. Hope you’re having a lovely day. It’s Day 2 and we’re heading out into the garden. I love planting things and watching them grow. When I got the set ‘I Dig You’, I envisaged a raised bed full of veggies.

This card looks like it might be hard to replicate, but it was really simple to construct. Here’s a photo of the basic tent fold.

It was as simple as chopping two same sized triangles off the bottom right and top left of the card. I added the lines to create a dimensional box. Here’s where the problems started- I didn’t actually plan it properly, I just kinda made it up as I went on. I started off by colouring and cutting out the veggies.

I added lots of darker brown and details using Prismacolor pencils but I hadn’t thought about the soil and what colour that might be. I’d got some old wood effect paper so started to build up the box with strips of paper and surrounded pieces of dark brown cardstock with those strips.

I ended up colouring over the lighter areas with darker coloured alcohol ink markers. I added pieces of dark cardstock around the edges and slotted in a few vegetables at the side. I didn’t know what veg was the leafy one so made it into a chilli plant. Granted, you can’t actually see potatoes whilst they’re growing in the ground, but hey, this is a fun card and I’m sure the recipient won’t mind!

The picture above gives a close-up of the way I’ve added the strips to help give it some dimension. It was certainly fun to make and I can’t wait to see what my teamies and guest designers come up with today too!

Do visit the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto Lisa and Michelle. We also have Alberto @loshakeratoalberto on Instagram, Francine VuillemeKeeway Tsao and Kitty Day so there are lots of lovely blogs and Instagram to visit!

See you tomorrow for a little light sporting activity 😉

Clearly Besotted June Teasers Day 1

Helloo lovely blog friends and Clearly Besotted fans. It’s come around again- the time where we all get to ooh and ahh over the new sets being released on the June 5th.

I loved creating this card. The set is called Fairground Friends but when I saw the little characters holding the candyfloss and popcorn and it immediately made me think of the cinema (which we haven’t been to for ages!) and so I wanted to create a card along this theme.

First up I thought about how to recreate the background to make it look as if there’s the projector light shining through the darkness. I did consider having the light coming over the seats and onto the characters, but knew it would take more time to create than I realistically had.

So, I started off with some Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade on the edge of a blending tool and then added some Broken China, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot Distress Inks, blending them from lighter to dark to give the idea of light through the darkness. I added some white gel pen dots to simulate the dust flecks you see through the bright lights.

How to do the chairs? Well I simply drew some ‘v’ regularly spaced and trimmed them out and then used them as a template on some strips of red cardstock. I then added trimmed those out, curved the edges very slightly and then added a red alcohol ink line on the inside of the v. Then I’ve added some gold spots simulating old fashioned theatre chairs with studs in.

You can see I’ve added a black cardstock strip with foam pads, having stamped on it and heated after using white embossing powder. I added some white gel pen faux stitching . The two elephants are stamped in grey hybrid ink and then coloured with alcohol ink. I overlaid details with Prismacolor pencils and called it done.

The set has a fabulous fairground scene which I can’t wait to ink up. I’ve had some really fun times at cinemas (including a mini cream tea with a friend whilst we were watching a kids film with our children), so this card would be good for kids and big kids too or with a cinema gift voucher.

This month, we have lots of inspiration. The best start is to go to the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto Michelle and Lisa. We also have Alberto @loshakeratoalberto on Instagram, Francine Vuilleme, Keeway Tsao and Kitty Day so there are lots of lovely blogs and Instagram to visit!

I’ll see you tomorrow with a post to dig into.
