Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 2 + Giveaway

Hello! How are you? It’s an exciting week as Altenew celebrate their 6th Birthday. I remember their very first stamp sets and it’s amazing to see how much they’ve developed and grown! I’m delighted to be part of a blog Hop with some fab talented designers and some awesome prizes.
A special welcome if you’ve come to my blog from Irina Fonina’s blog!
I’m starting off with some projects- and I’ll tell you more about the prizes and sponsors as we go! Firstly- my favourite first…

Aren’t the florals in the Simple Beauty set gorgeous?! I’ll never tire of this set. I’ve used 3 colours of Inks across the two flowers and some extra Prismacolor pencils to add shading.

You might also spy the Tartan stamp set that I’ve trimmed around and cut out the middles. The sentiment is from Ornamental Bliss. As part of the blog Hop there are lots of wonderful sponsors offering prizes to you as you hop around each blog.

The idea is that you’ll visit each blog and the more comments you leave, the greater the chances. To make the hop more exciting, start your comments with ‘Hi from ( city or country where you’re from). 37 winners will be chosen at random from comments left by 4/12/2020 on any of the blogs listed and then announced on the Altenew Card Blog on 4/18/2020.
Onto my second project

We are in a really challenging time, and I’m so glad this Birthday celebration can distract us a little. I thought ‘hope’ was a timely sentiment to be sending to a friend. The background is fussy cut ( I know- it was a little ambitious of me, but very relaxing) after using the Linear stencil.

You can see the cut outs and the Black Soot ink rubbed over the stencil. I also used the Caps Bold Alpha dies which are my new favourites!

I’ve inked them partially and added gel pen and black marker dots and some drops to match the ink colour. By the end, it reminded me a little of a big wheel!
Before I post my last project, it’s worth sharing about the prizes on offer and also the shipping deals.

Add the codes to get Free U.S. shipping or $5 off international shipping! (These aren’t valid on prior purchases and can’t be combined with other promo codes). Here’s all the prizes you could be in with a chance of winning.

I love sending cards with encouraging sentiments. the main image and stamped part of the sentiment are from Ornamental Bliss and I’ve used the Caps Bold Alphas again. I’ve used the same technique for the letters although a little more subtly and just partially stamped one of the main images in the stamp set.

Altenew January Release Blog Hop
Hello everyone! So glad to have you visiting today! I’m so thrilled to be joining Altenew for their January release, and what a release it is! You may have come from the lovely Reiko Tsuchida’s blog but if you want to begin at the start, head to Altenew’s Card blog .
I’ve got several projects, a video and I’m part of a stellar blog hop that I’m sure you’ll want to go and visit!
There are prizes too, which I’ll mention at the end, but for now- lets get on with the projects!
I kindly got sent several products and the first project uses two of them; Ornate Cover Die and Hello & Hugs Die. The dies are really good. That grey cardstock went through the die perfectly and only once- so don’t worry about the intricacy of the shapes. I try to use double-sided adhesive sheets with complex designs or self adhesive cardstock. Isn’t it a stunning design.
I thought it had an Art Deco vibe so I used some classic colours and then did a little doodling with a white gel pen. It’s very therapeutic and you can colour as much or as little as you like; dots, dashes, colouring in with a gel pen- gold or silver would do too!
The next project just shows perfectly what Altenew do so well; flowers ! If you love stamping and florals, you’re going to love this ‘Simple Beauty‘ set. I used some orange inks and then added some extra shading using Prismacolor pencils. It wasn’t hard, I just echoed the shading already provided by the image.
I used the small flowers in the set for a background, using the grey ink for all the flowers and adding a little black watercolour ink for the centres. I punched out a few holes in the layer to show the colour underneath through. You can also see I’ve added more little gel pen and black marker dots to both the flower and the background. It’s a simple trick to add texture. The sentiment is from the next set ‘Incredible‘.
This is a wonderfully versatile set called ‘Incredible’. If you love colouring, paper piecing or heat embossing, this is an amazing set. Yes, this does look like an unusual card- probably because I’ve die-cut a big circular chunk out of it! I wanted to make a different shape and have the flowers echoing the shape.
You can see the background is the Ornate Die that I’ve already showcased and the blue leaf (because of course, leaves can be blue!!) is from the Parlor Palm Dies. The heat embossing is done on Dura-Lar Matt which is why it’s not curled or warped. I’ve added blue-y green centres to keep the colour scheme unified.
The last card I’ve created is using the Tartan stamp set. This is a set that you can really be creative with. Whether you’ve a Scottish heritage or just love the vibe, this can go traditional or clean and modern. I only used the outer stamp and one of the inner images.
You can see that I rotated the grey stamped square so that it gave movement and more dimension onto the project. Honestly, I could have sat and created for hours more with these wonderful sets. I used the Hello & Hugs dies again and added..you guessed it…a little more gel pen doodling! It’s addictive once you start!
If you want to see all of these projects in my video plus a good look at the gorgeous new Altenew goodies I’ve used, do head over to watch.
