Altenew Exotic Garden Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello lovelies! Happy Tuesday! It’s release time with Altenew, and they are releasing lots of new stamps, dies, stencils and more! I’ve got some lovely projects to show you, but first I’ll say hello to those who have joined me from the lovely Kymona Tracey’s blog. If you are wanting to start at the beginning of the hop, go to the Altenew Card blog first. If you want to jump to the whole collection, go here

This first project uses the new set Enchanting Beauty which has lots of leaves and flowers with gorgeous sentiments too. I decided to ink up the flowers in a pink, but you could also use greens and make a foliage based set. I also used the Rose Petal gradient cardstock set. It also has a matching die set.
I added some Matt Duralar behind the flowers and leaves. This is a plastic film that looks similar to vellum but that you can heat emboss on without warping. It’s great to doodle and use white gel pen on like I did. I’ve used strips of cardstock in different widths to create the background.

The next set I’m using is the Sweet Gingko Layering Stamp set with matching die. It’s a smaller scale and would actually go perfectly with the Enchanting Beauty set.

Again, I used some simple cardstock stripes to add interest to my background; easy when you don’t have matching papers or just want something different on your card. Simple and useful sentiments finish it off well. I’ve used different green inks but you could use pretty colours to act as florals too.

My next project is using the Succulent Layering Die Set.

These dies are so.much.fun! Easy to put together and I just curled the ends to make them more realistic. You can see I’ve made a mock shadow box, by using the Thin Frame 3D die set. I used the Ornamental Bliss Stamp set for the sentiment. A gift and card in one! All of these stamps and dies have this fabulous Exotic Garden theme. I can imagine a beautiful garden with Gingkos, Succulents and more.

My last project is pretty simple, but just focuses on the beauty of the stamp set. Sometimes we have to avoid gilding the lily 😉

There are 4 layers on this butterfly- all from the Dovetail Butterflies stamp and die set. I’ve stamped the base in a light pink, added the detail in a darker pink and die cut it out. Then I’ve stamped the detailed butterfly layer plus the smaller layer onto acetate using White Stazon ink and die cut those too. Acetate is best cut out with a metal shim beneath. If your die cutting machine won’t cut the shapes from acetate because you don’t have a metal shim, it’s an easy shape to trim out with scissors.

I also trimmed out the middle of the butterfly to act as a final layer and hide any glue that you might have seen through the acetate whilst glueing the layers together. You can see my mistake of taking a photo before the glue was dry from the stars! A few drips of watercolour down the front of the card is all the base I needed to ground my butterfly onto.
For the whole Exotic Garden collection, you can see them here. For the next blog to visit, please go to my lovely friend Virginia Lu.
I hope you’ve loved this first look at the new release. Do keep hopping for more chances to enter in the giveaway.
