Altenew Whimsical Wonder Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a wonderful day! Today is so exciting as Altenew release their April Stamps/Dies/Stencils and more collection with the theme of ‘Whimsical Wonder’! You might have come here via Joylita Dsouza, so I’m happy you’re here if that’s the case. I have to say that I have loved creating these projects using Altenew’s lovely new products and know that you’ll love them all too. I have a few projects to show you, so here goes..

The first is my favourite, using the new set Folk Art stamp set, which is going to get a LOT of use!

Isn’t it gorgeous!! You might wonder about the card base- it’s simply a tent folded white card that I’ve trimmed a piece off at an angle, flipped the cut off piece over and used it as a template to create the angle on the opposite side. I know it looks like it’s defying gravity but the easy way to get this to stand up is to slice a 1cm off the bottom of the back of the card and that helps it stand up.

I think the sentiment font reminded me a little of art deco, so I picked a colour scheme that wouldn’t have been out of place in that era and coloured it in with alcohol markers. The matching die makes it SO easy with all those intricate parts and really makes the image pop! They are unusual colours that I’d never pick normally but I rather love their subtlety.

My second project is using the wonderful stencil set ‘Meadow Bush‘ with the accompanying die set. It’s amazing how you can get detailed images that no-one will believe are actually stencillled! I decided to choose some oranges and red and mount them onto some black glitter card (which is practically impossible to see!)

I rotated the sprig so that it fitted on the top of a card blank that I’d added a piece of glitter cardstock. The sentiment is from the Folk Art Stamp Set.

You can see that I used a bluey grey ink colour for the foliage and stems- do think outside of the box when it comes to choosing colours. I rarely stick to what I’d normally see in nature. A few tiny sequins just lift the design which came together pretty quickly.

Moving onto another style entirely, I’ve chosen to use the Marbled Bloom Stamp set and combined it with new Poured Acrylic 6×6 Paper Pack.

The Marbled Bloom set ( plus matching die set) is one of Altenew’s layered image stamp sets and you just a few coordinating ink colours and the design comes quickly together. I chose to use a blue in my leaf combo- I love how it lifts the greens and makes them seem brighter.

For the background I thought I’d go textural. I grabbed my super useful Caps Bold Alpha Die set and used the new Poured Acrylic Paper Pack (which looks marbled and so fits this set perfectly) and die cut ‘love’. Because I’ve chosen black and white in the paper pack, I ‘think’ I’ve got away with it being too busy (maybe not 😉 ) !! The sentiment is from the Marbled Bloom set.

Last, but certainly not least, is a set I wouldn’t normally go for, but has the most tranquil and whimsical feel to it – Magical Memories Stamp & Die Set.

If there’s anyone in your life who loves fairytales, magic or dreaming- this would be the perfect set for them. It has two larger images that you might have in a dream. I’ve tried to give that vibe to the card, using a pearlescent navy cardstock and punching out little holes in the panel that I backed with silver glitter cardstock.

You can see the little house on a basket being flown through the air with a magical hot air balloon. To give it the ‘air’ of floating, I added a hand cut piece of vellum that I sewed onto the base layer around most of the three sides. I coloured the image with alcohol markers and added tonnes of little white gel pen dots to make it look a little more magical. You’re definitely going to want the matching die set if you intend on trimming out the design- there are some teeny areas perfectly cut by the die! The sentiment (from the set) was white heat embossed onto some jade cardstock and will make a lovely card for somebody!

There’s a bumper giveaway for this release…$300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $100 gift certificate to 1 lucky winner and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners!
