The Final Countdown!

Hi everyone! It’s the final countdown

The stamps and dies will be available in the store and also at Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson tonight at 10pm (BST)…
and just in case you weren’t sure which sets to choose, I thought I’d leave you with one final project from the ‘Let’s Party’ (mini A7 set)
It might be a smaller set, but it has everything you need to make the cutest invites or Birthday cards, or something with a little dimension like this!..

Those of you who are regulars at this blog will know I have a ‘thing’ for creating ‘off the card’ cards (if that makes any sense).

I created a folded card using a die (leaving the top fold pushed down towards the centre of the die slightly which meant it doesn’t cut the fold and so creates a mini blank.

I stamped all of the balloons and cut them out. There is a word of warning here… not all inks are created equal. Just saying. Some are perfectly marvellous for small areas or sentiments, but give them a little expanse of solid image and they get blotchy.

If you ever get this, ink it first with Versamark ink and then ink with your chosen colour. It won’t make a perfect image, but a much more even inking than before!

You can hopefully see where some of the acetate ‘strings’ are. I stacked them onto the base using strips of double sided tape to keep them secure and then added another die cut shaped over the top to hide the ‘workings’.

Add the lovely scripty font and you’ve a fun invite for any age!

See you soon!

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady Week 5!

I feel like singing, ‘and now, the time is here, I’ll face the final curtain’ 😉

My final week over at Winnie & Walter’s blog as Leading Lady. Who was to know it would be so much fun and how much it would stretch my creativity. I said to Shay (one of the W&W owners) that I’d not really done flower cards very much…but now I LOVE them! This next flower project is one of my favourite cards ever!

I’m loosely basing my projects around ‘gift giving’ this week; hope you can see where I’m going with it! I haven’t posted all of my projects here, so do pop over to the Winnie & Walter blog to see the other twoll5a

I wanted it to look like a bunch of flowers, with the vase as the card base. I’ve mixed and matched flowers from both ‘In Bloom: Elsa’s Flora’ and ‘In bloom: Anna’s Flora’. These sets work interchangeably so well because the sizings are the same- which means you get more use out of them. I’ve simply added the sentiment from Winter Woodland

To make it ‘beyond the card’, I’ve added a little acetate frame that I adhere to the front of the card (but knew I’d cover with the blooms). Granted, it does show at the back, but you could  add more flowers on the back of the card, which would be a lovely touch. It was for my Mum who had a special Birthday so it had to be a little bit more special!

I’ve gone a little different for my next gift! A pair of earrings!

I’ve made these pretty quickly (and very easily) using the new In Bloom: Paulina’s Greenery Cutaways and black shrink plastic!

I simply die cut the shrink plastic and then shrank them. They were a little wriggly whilst shrinking and probably need a coat of varnish just to give a little strength. For the background I used the Mini Scenery: Multifaceted stamp.

My last (& super quick) project is more of a message from me rather than an actual tag. It was to say ‘thank you’ for having me (Shay & Julie) and for you blog readers for all being so supportive of my projects. It’s been a joy to be with Winnie & Walter the past few weeks, and hugs to all of you.

In case you’re wondering, I’ve die cut the In A word: Hugs cutaway into a piece of cardstock die-cut with the new Leaf Effect Cutaway. I die cut it onto some plain card too. Add some distress inks onto the top of the word. Fold the Leaf Effectpibece in half and adhere to a folded piece of vellum. Insert the ‘hugs’ piece and add sequins to finish!

If you still wanted a chance to win the £30 gift voucher which Shay & Julie have kindly donated, just answer this question..what one thing makes you smile the most?! You’ve got until Nov 2nd to answer that. After Nov 2nd, I’ll tally up all the answers/comments and randomly pick a winner and will announce it here.08910-w2526w_30giftcard

Thanks for visiting me over the past few weeks, you have no idea how much you’ve made me smile!

Winnie & Walter October Release Day 4

Hi! Well ..last day, and yet even more great Winnie & Walter new releases. Today I’m using several stamp sets, a die set & a creative screening (stencil). First up.. Merry & Bright with Evelin T Designs

This card was easy; 3 colours of Distress inks added over the sentiment that I’d embossed over white. Spray a little water over (it almost gives the idea of lights in the distance!) and then stamp a few snowflakes in silver and add some sequins!

Next up; one of the cards you won’t have seen on the Winnie & Walter blog as I only finished it last night. This is using the other set designed with Evelin T Designs ‘Happiest of Holidays’. I’ve paired it with one of the new cutaways that premiered on Tuesday and those birds? Aren’t they just gorgeous !

Next up, ‘Mini Scenery: Do you see what I see?’. Oh, you’ll LOVE the pattern of this stamp. The title is perfect as there are so many ways of colouring the design, in graphic patterns, as geometric flower shapes or simply as cubes, as I’ve done here. I wanted the cubes to be falling and actually coming out of the card.. (& yes, it will fold flat, and no, I did not have any idea what size of envelope I’d put it into when I started.. details details..oops!!)

This next trio of tags is using the stamp sets I’ve already outlined but incorporating Essentials: Noelle Cutaways (a fabby die set) and also the ‘Creative Screenings: Do You See What I See’. I’ve sponged grey ink onto the die-cut tags and then stamped over the top. So easy!

Add some red lace for tying the tags and i’ve visions of white stamped kraft wrapping paper and these little tags adorning them.

All the fun is still going on at the Winnie & Walter blog. I hope you’ve been commenting over there as every comment on the different days (including the chance to win the Big Release post) gets you a chance to be picked to win! Just make sure you comment on every one if you want a chance for each prize.

I’ve been so fortunate to get to play with this release & have loved sharing my projects with you. Thanks to those of you that have been commenting every day- I’ve smiled so much reading them all these past few days.

The fun isn’t over more day.

I’m doing my final Leading Lady post tomorrow! (so sad!)

Till then, xx

Winnie & Walter Leading Lady Week 3 with 3D cards

Hello again! Welcome to the Saturday spot this week. It’s been brilliant fun preparing all of these projects and this week as Winnie & Walter’s Leading Lady I’m talking about 3D cards.

I love this crafting genre (I’ve decided that crafting should have genre 😉 ). Anything that is sticking out, above, below… off the page etc. are my favourites. You probably have seen a fair bit of this if you visit my blog regularly so I thought we’d look at this topic today.

I’m only posting one of the 3 projects here. You know the score… want to see the rest and how I’ve made them?..pop over to the Winnie & Walter blog. Hopefully you can see the little elements popping off the page!

For this project I’ve used acetate and the fabulous In Bloom; Addie’s Garden & In Bloom; Lola’s Bouquet with Joni Andaya

plus also the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways

Because I’m doing the Leading Lady spot this month, the lovely Julie & Shay also have generously given a $30 voucher for their store for me to give away.

All you have to do is leave a comment on any of the 4 blog posts over the 4 Saturdays on this blog in October and this week tell me where you live in the world; I’d love to know! I’ll randomly pick a winner on October 31st and post their name on my blog on Sat Nov 1st.

To see all 3 projects, do go and visit the Winnie & Walter blog

Can’t wait to be back next Saturday.. for the last time with…you’ll have to wait and see! xx

An Off-Piste Cable Car experience with Avery Elle!

photo 1-73 Hey! How are you?
I know it’s getting chillier and thought I’d use this really fantastic die setI got out the set and stared at it for a while and got a little stuck. I cut out the snow drifts and lay them onto the card base and that’s when, the pre-trimmed elements just looked right. The snow extending past the card looked in proportion and then as I added the cable cars, it grew into the design that it is!

photo 3-41

Now, granted, it’s a little bit of fun. By extending past the card I’ve gone ‘off-piste’ (does the title make sense now 😉 )
I’ve also used the gorgeous notecards.

You can see the little animals sticking out of the decorated cable cars. I’ve added acetate to the windows too! I flipped one of the cable cars over so they weren’t all facing the same way.

photo 2-71
The cute animals are from the Storybook set, but this set would do just as well

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the trees are in fact mountains. You can really change them all around- it’s a wonderful versatile die set.
I’ll go back to my shivering now!

Clearly Besotted October Release Teaser Time Day 4

Teaser Time

Hi! Thanks for coming back to join me for another day of projects introducing you to the latest Clearly Besotted October Release. Full release will be shown on the 5th October and the sets are available to buy from 10pm BST that day.

Today, I’m showing you a little more Christmas stuff (c’mon, it’s October now, no groaning please!)

The Christmas Poinsettia has some bold images that are perfectly suited to colouring and outline stamping. Here, I wanted to create something that could be removed and used as a hanging decoration.

photo 1-76

When I stamped and added white embossing powder, I found that the alcohol markers actually colour the white a player shade of whatever colour you’re using. This gave an unexpected effect, but one I really like.

photo 2-74The second project is using stamps from the set ‘Stitched Mittens’.

These aren’t the main images- just some of the extras, but it said ‘Christmas jumper’ to me. Ok- the jumper outline isn’t a stamp, I’ve just sketched that freehand. I wanted a simple imperfect line (ha! That’s my line and I’m sticking to it!).
photo 4-29

It makes for a different sort of Christmas card, and one suited for the men for sure.

photo 3-43

Onto the final one today (sorry, if you’re bored already!) using a set called ‘Merry Kissmas’
photo 2-71 copy

This one comes with a matching die that’s very handy if you don’t like fussy cutting. As you might know, I find it soothing (haha!) so I simply stamped it once, added details and a feint light blue line to give dimension and then added the fussy cut image over the top.

It’s not a massive image, but I’ve made it the main thing by decreasing the size of the card blank. That’s an easy trick for your vertically challenged stamps at home!

Congratulations to have made it all the way to the bottom. I’m sure you’ll agree that the Clearly Besotted team of Stephanie and Jenny have done such a great job. Pop over to the blog to see what all the girls have created!

One more day to wait… and they’re available!

See you tomorrow with my final set of projects!

Clearly Besotted Teaser Time Day 3

Teaser Time

Hi! Back again for Day 3!

From the serene of yesterday, to all out fun today!

The first card is using 3 different sets; Best Christmas, Christmas Poinsettia & Giving Thanks.

When you see the whole reveal, you’ll be able to work out which bit came from which set.

photo 5-16

When I saw the balloons, I randomly thought about them hanging off a wheelbarrow with some holly stuffed in and that makes sense of the sentiment too!

photo 4-27

I’ve added lots of Wink of Stella glitter to the robins tummy, and you can just about pick it up.

The next set is using Little Elves, which is an addition to a September released set. I’ve done a little masking here too.

photo 3-41

It might be hard to see, but the front books are actually falling forwards in a 3D fashion..

photo 2-72

I’ve just added them to an acetate hinge. Maybe you can see it just in the previous photo and the next photo hopefully gives you an idea.

photo 1-74These sets are playful, fun and have lots of ways you can incorporate them into Christmas scenes. They certainly fired my imagination.

I can’t wait to go and hop over to the Clearly Besotted blog to see what the Design Team girls have been up to!

Stamps will be available on the 5th at 10pm from the store

Clearly Besotted Sneak Peeks Day 4 !

81ad6-teaser2btimeWelcome back to the last fun day of previews before you can be let loose in the Clearly Besotted Stamp store for the release which goes live tomorrow at 10pm (GMT).

Today, I’ve used two sets to make 2 very different cards. The first is using ‘Make A Splash’photo 1-73 copy 5 It’s a brilliantly fun set. I envisaged this little dolphin playing and leaping out of the water. On closer inspection of the set (which you’ll see in full tomorrow), there is a ripple you can stamp in the water- but in just cutting out the outer ring, it created the perfect ‘hoop’ for little dolphin to sail 2-71 copy 5 You can see the dimension of the elements in that photo- courtesy of some little acetate squares. It lifts them right out of the card and I’ve also used acetate strips to extend the card beyond the usual and add in the clouds. It’s a clever little trick that stops the card looking cluttered but is slightly tricky fitting the card into an envelope 😉photo 3-40 I dug out some old micro beads (remember those?!) and used them to accentuate the waves which were created with distress ink. Stamp some fun drops of water and you’re done!

Onto the next set- the stunning ‘Beautiful Friend’.

It’s got a couple of beautiful sprays in the set, and I just added touches of watercolour (well, water based markers to be precise)photo 4-27 copy 3

I added some white gel pen detailing and some stripes to bring the colour scheme 5-15 copy 3Hasn’t this release been amazing? It’s not finished yet though- do go and visit the other girl’s blogs and you’ll be wowed!

I will be back tomorrow on Release Day with another project for you, so do check back tomorrow.

Thank you for all your kind comments and hello to all of the lovely new visitors!

See you tomorrow then!

Clearly Besotted Teaser Day 3!

Yes, You haven’t missed Day 2- it was really Day 2 yesterday as Clearly Besotted Stamps start with Day 1 where they show tiny thumbnails of a part of each set and that was on onto another day!

‘Love Bug’..

What does it remind you of? Well when I saw just one of the bugs in this set, I had a vision of fireflies in a jar

photo 3-39 copy 2

Aren’t those bugs gorgeous! Strictly speaking they’re not fireflies- but I’ve tried to make them look that way

photo 2-71 copy 2

I just did some simple colouring and then added some glittery bottoms- well they are fireflies after all 😉

photo 1-73 copy 2

The body of the card is just using distress inks- blending the black into the yellow. Add some water drops and then some pearlised ink 4-27 copy

Next I die cut a jar shape out of acetate and sewed it onto the base card. By using a coloured thread you help bring contrast to the card and tie in the colour of the hearts on the bug (well I had to add a heart in to make sure the sentiment made sense!).

photo 5-15 copy

To add a difference to the card, I extended the jar top above the card, added a textured lid from some wallpaper samples I had lying around and then added 2 jump rings into the acetate and added some copper wire for a handle.

The card is using only 2 elements from the set…wait until you see the rest. Jenny has done a wonderful job designing this months sets.

Hope you enjoy having a look around the Design Team’s blogs- I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’ve done with the sets! Start with the Clearly Besotted Stamps Blog first for the links. You’ve not long to wait to purchase these sets- they’re available from Wednesday 5th August.

Happy Monday- and keep shining (but not in the way of the fireflies!!)

Something a Little Different

Hi! Wow- I’m glad it’s Friday!

I’m here with a card with a difference. I totally love 3D- I’d spend all my time creating things like this if I had the choice.

Here’s how I created it

Using circle dies to trace around ( why not make products do double duty?!)

Next sketch out a maze type design onto the circles regularly spaced. Use your craft knife to cut the inside and side parts of each tab

Using the dies as a template, use an embossing tool to run along the outer edges ( the uncut ones) of each circle.

Now carefully ease them upwards

Add some patterned paper underneath and then add a raised outer ring and some flowers from the Lawn Fawn Penelope’s Blossoms set

You can see some slightly dodgy folded edges- problem being that thick cardstock doesn’t really want to curve like that. It wants to be a straight edge really.

I have plans- I’d love to create this into something a little more commercial. Have a range floating around in my head!

Well better be off- I’m hoping to avoid injury today.

Wednesday saw me stabbing myself with a needle and bleeding all over a commissionned project.

Thursday saw me being accidentally head butted by the pooch. My lip swelled and is bruised today.

Today? Well …it’s not over yet 😉.

Have any of you any craft related injuries ? x
