Clearly Besotted July/Aug Teasers Day 4

Hello everyone! Hope you’re well today and not struggling too much with the heat. I love the sunshine but the heat…not so much!

I said yesterday I was bringing you a two-fer..well in fact it ended up being a three-fer. Let me start with the dud, and the evolution of the card! We just can’t love everything that we make- so I thought I’d show my process. It rarely happens that I try and improve my cards- I’d be more likely to ditch it and start again.

I kind of liked the ring from Ring Around Summer but who knows what I was thinking with the odd green lines- they’re not even the same shade!! So I decided to pull the ring off and try again. I’d coloured the images in with Copic markers and simply stamped with grey hybrid ink. So.. onto number two.

So adding the butterflies creates movement but I still didn’t love it. Full disclosure.. I just put the ring onto the back of the original card so I now have a ripped back -so if I need to send it, I’ll have to cut the front off and add it to another card blank. I should not have been so lazy and just popped it onto another blank. Duh.

So, I decided to go simpler still.

So I stamped in grey ink, added a violet grey and a darker grey to make the ring look dimensional and then coloured in the toucan. I trimmed out the inside of the ring and popped a dark purple strip behind it. It’s hard to see the colour from this photo.

The purple (despite it being my least favourite colour) gives a good contrast for the toucan. I prefer this card but they’re still not my favourite cards. I hope though, it gives you lots of ideas of how to use the set (plus my paddling pool card from Sunday).

I hope you’ve got time to visit the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto LisaMichelle and Francine Vuilleme plus seeing Mona and Alberto over on Instagram.

See you tomorrow for Release Day!

Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Daffodil & Glitter Cardstock Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone! So nice to welcome you to my blog. Today we’ve a double celebration; the Daffodil Craft-A-Flower and a lovely new collection of Glitter Cardstock in the most gorgeous colours. I’ve got one project using the new dies and 2 other projects just using the Glitter Cardstock Sets. You may have come from Maryam Perez’s blog, so a big hello if that’s the case. If you’d like to start at the beginning, do go to the Altenew Card Blog.

I’ve used the beautiful Craft-A-Flower Daffodil set (all links are affiliate ones) and I’ve used the Gilded Glitter Cardstock Set (which is 6 colours and 24 sheets in total) and the Forest Canopy Glitter Cardstock set (4 colours and 16 sheets). The Gilded colour is on the inside of the daffodil and the Forest Canopy on the leaves. You can also get the Craft-A-Flower Daffodil and Gradient Cardstock bundle (there’s a 5% discount).

Initially there will be a limited supply of the cardstock so if it’s not available when you want to purchase please sign up for back-in-stock notification on the product page to get notified by email as soon as the glitter cardstock sets are available again.

You might spy the background Moroccan Lattice Cover Die and the thought provoking sentiment is from the Slim Sentiments Die Set. I added some Grafix Duralar Matt film over the top of the Moroccan Lattice die to soften the effect and so it’s not fighting for the limelight with the beautiful daffodil.

Onto the next projects using the beautiful blues; Ocean Reflection Glitter Cardstock Set (4 colours and 16 sheets).

I chose the gorgeous Craft-A-Flower Buttercup die set to decorate the tag. I used some grey cardstock for the base and trimmed off slithers of the different coloured glitter cardstock and added white cardstock to highlight the glitter. Sometimes we can use it sparingly and it still creates impact.

Giveaway Prizes

There is $200 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 07/13/2021 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 7 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 07/15/2021.

Glitter is notoriously hard to photograph but the picture gives a real hint of the sparkle from the Ocean Reflection Glitter Cardstock Set. I added strips of each different colour in the set and put the Ornate Cover Die over the top. Adding the Hello from Hello & Hugs die set is the perfect finishing touch.

All that’s needed is for me to direct you to the lovely Karen Brown’s blog.

Thanks for joining me today and I’ll see you soon x

Altenew Eclectic Vibes Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello lovely people, it’s that wonderful time of the month where Altenew release a bumper amount of stamps, dies and more. This month it’s called Eclectic Vibes and you’ll find a vintage style with a modern twist in my projects. You might have come here from Bridget Casey’s blog, and if so, please know you’re very welcome here. If you want to begin from the very start- please pop back to the Altenew Card Blog.

I’ve 3 projects to show you; my favourite one is first.

So this card might need a little explaining. The utterly fabulous boots are from the new set Vintage Vibes. When I saw them, I wished I’d had a pair as a teen. I wanted to give them a modern twist with the colours that I’d chosen. I wanted to use the Altenew Fineliner Pens (which are awesome by the way) and I came up with the idea to draw some basic legs (which I wish mine looked like!) and attach a piece of cardstock in a skirt shape with some shading. (all links are affiliate ones). The set means you can add so many different combinations of colour.

I love the Vintage Vibes set (which has an accompanying die set) with its fun sentiments. This second card uses it in a slightly different way.

You could go completely vintage with your colours and the Just A Number stamp set and Die set which I’m using in the next project pairs perfectly.

Here are THREE ways to get a FREEBIE to kickstart your creativity! Free gift will be added to cart automatically.

  • Get a FREE brand new Eclectic Vibes Release Inspiration Guide (worth $5.99) with every order of high-value Eclectic Vibes release bundles. Shop HERE! *Exclusions apply.
  • Get a FREE brand new Creative Jump Start Class with every order from the new Eclectic Vibes release collection from 07/05/2021 through 07/11/2021. Shop HERE
  • Get a FREE brand new Eclectic Vibes Release Mini Inspiration Guide with every order from 07/05/2021 through 07/07/2021. Shop HERE!

The last project is pretty simple and quick but uses the Just A Number stamp set along with the heart from Vintage Vibes. You can also see the super useful 2 in 1 Altenew Glue Pen that makes sticking down so easy. I love the way that the overlapping hearts create new colours.

Giveaway Prizes

Altenew is giving away $300 in total prizes! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $25 gift certificate to 8 winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by 07/11/2021 for a chance to win.

Altenew will draw 10 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Winners Page on 07/13/2021.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at the new release. If you want to see the whole release- go here

Now I’d love you to go to Linda Westfall’s blog next- I can’t wait to see what she’s conjured up.

See you soon (the whole blog list is below in case you get lost) xx

STAMPtember Clearly Besotted!

Hi there! I’m delighted to be showcasing a new stamp set…all especially designed forexclusive_clearly-besotted-01

I can’t imagine many of you haven’t heard about #Stamptember, but it’s the monthly long celebration from Simon Says Stamp where lots of your favourite stamping companies release new sets especially for the event.

Clearly Besotted are no different, and they’ve designed a wonderful new set called Layered Chrysanthemumssss101661

What a beautiful set! I decided to go with a pink colour way but instead of keeping it as a 2d image, I snipped into some of the petals and glued the overlap so it ended up like this!

I loved creating this acetate based card. This next photo will give you a better idea of how I snipped into the card to create the effect. Aren’t the blooms just gorgeous!img_7572

To stamp them, it’s  a 3 step system. If you call the largest solid flower stamp No.1 and then the next biggest No.2 and the smallest No.3, I found it was easy to stamp if you stamped No.1, then No.3 and lining up No.2 stamp was pretty easy. Start with the solid stamp in the lighter colour and the smallest in the darkest shade.

I actually only stamped two of the leaf stamps rather than the three so it kept the leaves looking lighter.

img_7575

The sentiment is heat embossed into Dura Lar matt and then attached to the stripes and adding a few sequins to finish.

I hope you love this set as much as I do.

Check out all the releases so far this month for the Stamptember celebration here.

Do go and visit the Simon Says Stamp blog for some gorgeously creative inspiration from the rest of the team.

Thanks for visiting me and hope to see you soon xx

Clearly Besotted Stamps Teaser Day 3

It’s March- and I’m really delighted to be back sharing with the Clearly Besotted Stamp’s March releaseTeaser Time

IMG_4173

You already must know that Clearly Besotted do flower stamps so exquisitely. Well this ‘From All of Us’ set is the perfect example.

There are 3 flower images plus some lovely scripty sentiments. I’ve mirrored the images

and coloured in using Prismacolor pencils.IMG_4174

My second set for today is using the same set but in a different way and using some of the other flowers in the set.IMG_4300 (1)

These bluebells immediately make me think of shady woods and floors crammed with a carpet of bluebells. They are a stunning design aren’t they?. I’ve masked a couple of them to give them a grouping.IMG_4304

I’ve coloured these with Zig Clean Color markers and I white embossed the flowers first.

I know that Stephanie and the team will have tonnes of inspiration for you so please pop over to the blog and see what loveliness they’ve all created.

If you’re not a regular to this blog or to Clearly Besotted’s release programme. We’ll be posting every day up to and including March 5th, when at 10pm GMT they’ll be available to purchase.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 4 of the Teasers..tomorrow we’re going cute- and cute with bells on!!

xx

Joy To The Woods & Give-away Winner!

joy

Morning, you lovely bunch!

Just thought I’d share this project using the brand new set ‘Joy To The Woods’ from Lawn Fawn.

You can purchase this set over at Make The Day Special Stamp Store and there’s a ton of other Lawn Fawn sets & some new arrivals from Paper Smooches, Winnie & Walter and WPlus9 (to name a few)!

To create the card I’ve made a simple background using Distress Inks & sprayed (rather unevenly) water over it, which dissipates the colours and leaves an almost snow-fall effect. I heat embossed the trees (which are rather more shiny in real life) and added some watercolour.

The snow at the bottom is obviously vellum and I love the effects you can create with this product. You could leave off the baubles and just make a wintry scene with it- I love the moody sky!

 joy2

I’m also popping this into the Simon Says Stamp blog challenge with ‘Anything goes’

IMG_4792.JPG

I’m a little late with posting the winner- please forgive me. I’ve been trying to sort out back to school and homework and catch up a little. The way I drew this was to compile a list of all comments in the order they were posted. Some people loaded several ‘entries’ into one comment which is why the number of entries is higher than the number of comments. I simply popped the numbers in the random number generator.

p

This number belongs to Jackie J!

Please get in touch with your details Jackie!

I have some more docrafts products to give away very soon!

On the family front, getting back into school gear has gone ok.

There are some new things:

Having to wait longer to get out the house whilst one child gels their hair into their new perfect look!

Having littliest actually enjoying going back to school. There’s a man in their class now and I think its a really positive step for him. No longer do we have ‘school is boring’ after a busy day at school.

Although…

we had homework already.

I am no big fan of tons of homework. For some, it stresses them out and although there’s a great work ethic in general in our house, I do think at infant level, it shouldn’t be so involved.

This week, we had spellings, times tables, putting the spelling words into a sentence for each word, food diaries and also the reading books are starting to come home.

I was nearly as depressed as he was.

We had a little fun with making up sentences to put the words in.

‘School’?

“I hate school”. To be fair, he doesn’t- but I think the homework was driving him to that conclusion. We talked about how his new teacher might feel sad reading that so it was changed to something more positive.

Some sentences were plain silly & the last word was ‘when’.

His first version was ‘when is it the end of the world?’

Quite a thoughtful reflection,I considered. He obviously decided the sentence was too long to write & looked up at me mischeviously

“when is the end?”

We decided we had definitely come to the end of the homework & after a quick chat about question marks, we put it all in the bag and sighed.

I’m not sure whose sigh was the longest 😉

See you tomorrow with some more metal!

xx

Brit Card & Loving being British (mostly!)

20120606-150412.jpg

Ok- its a little quirky ( maybe a lot!) but with all the Jubilee festivities and general swelling of British pride, it seemed appropriate. The stamps are from an ultra cool set by Indigo Blu. As the My Little Shoebox stickers were still lying around I thought I’d use them. The arrangement of them is mimicking the head-dress on Britannia ( ha- not quite as random as you were imagining!) and the punched holes are her hair. The images are stamped and paper pieced.

Had a great day yesterday with some friends round to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. We even had a Jubilee cake which one of my olders created

20120606-151444.jpg
My eldest decided we should really have a party and after half an hour phoning around had invited 27 people! They didn’t all come in the end- 21 was a good crowd though. There was lots of food and we spent that evening baking ( any old excuse!!). It wasn’t a real party- more of a chilled get together but it was lovely sharing the pride of being British and honouring the Queen.

20120606-151858.jpg
There are so many reasons that it’s great being British- but we often forget them.
Here’s my list.
The monarchy. Architecture. Castles. History. Pomp. Cream Teas. Education . Fish and Chips. Diverse culture. Fashion ( not mine- obviously!). Gentle climate. Wellington Boots. Sandwiches. Jelly and Icecream. The countryside. British beaches. British music. Chocolate. Thatched cottages. Bunting. Morris dancers. Folk music. King James Bible. I could go on.
What’s your favourite thing about Britain?
There are some weird and just plain bizarre things about our nation – take the local obsession for going out in your pyjamas. But for the moment, here’s to you Ma’am. Long may you continue to reign!

See you when I’ve got rid of the rest of the buffet ( obviously not consuming it all myself!) xx

Encouragement Card & Sunshine!

20120527-125750.jpg

I think this computer might just melt! Love this weather. Have to say that I love it more from the inside with a door open and a breeze coming in. Being of the fair haired and ultra-light-burns-in-an-instant-skin-type, I shy away from too many rays.
This is a card I’ve popped into the ring for the PaperCrafts Gallery Idol. You’ve got until the end of Monday to enter. It’s any card with an ‘encouragement’ theme but not Birthday etc. For this round it can be an old card ( or new!!). Just join the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol 2012 Flickr group and upload a pic. Yes- you really should see the entries. I don’t know how they manage to whittle them down to 20. I don’t envy their job, but they always seem to pick the right people. I know, it’s unlikely; there are oodles and oodles of entries- but do enter; you just don’t know what might take their fancy.

I noticed that courage was in the
Middle of ‘encouragement’ so wanted to focus on that. It’s a simple design but just playing around with a few bits of supplies can give a bold design. The buttons were in my button box and just pulled out a few that matched. Making cards needn’t be complicated or have loads of products on.
I shan’t be holding my breath for a result but you know, I shall be popping on for some inspiration and why not leave some nice comments to ‘encourage‘ some of them. Go and see- you’ll be amazed!

Better dash- have another project in mind! Enjoy the weather..don’t forget the sun lotion! See you when I’ve slathered down 5 kids in the Factor 50 stuff! x

Bliss Bag & Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

Good morning!! Hope you’re not shivering away like me! Isn’t it freeezing?!  Today I’m part of a blog hop organised by Pat with all the ILWS gals. There are 4 separate hops all using the Sale-a-bration sets so as to give you all some inky inspiration with using them. If you click on that ILWS link, it’ll show you the whole list. My round starts with me- but you may have come  from the lovely Hayley, so a big Hi! and welcome if you did.! I haven’t seen her blog post yet but I’m looking forward to peeking later!

I’ve got 2 very different projects. The first was an idea of mine to use butterflies from ‘Bliss’  instead of a hot air balloon carrying a birthday present. The design needs a bit of reworking but at least it’s nice and bright! I had fun making the ‘strings’. I used the different ink refills to dye some plain embroidery thread. I just put a small amount of water in different plastic cups and added 4 drops of ink from the refills. Add lengths of string, leave for 15 minutes, then remove and let thread dry. To get a truer colour I probably needed a few more drops of colour. Ah well, I had fun playing! I’ve also entered this in Stampin Royalty

for their challenge ‘Anything with wings’ . I’ve used the Happy Birthday from Punch Bunch and just cut offthe 3 edges of  the scallops. Onto my second project- a very hastily sewn ‘Bliss’ Bag. The light was chronic yesterday- and even messing around on Photoshop didn’t help any! The colour on the bag is as true as I could as I could get it ! The central panel was made from a cotton baby cot sheet I didn’t need any more. I stiffened the thin sheet with some interfacing. The ink stamped really crisp images. I used Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive ink. I added the designer buttons whilst munching my breakfast in a cafe this morning.  As a result of going to a place called the Quarter, I want yoghurt, muesli and fresh fruit for breakfast tomorrow and possibly all next week! The next stage of the hop is heading over to Blue Angel’s . I went for a nose yesterday and she’s got some beautiful cards on there.

On a personal front I was thinking about lots of things that I love whilst I was in town yesterday. My eldest boy has a real nonchalant disregard for his appearance, and I love the way he just doesn’t mind! I had to force myself not to comment as I looked on at this very scruffy but incredibly happy little guy. I also love learning how things are constructed. I was so excited browsing through bag patterns and picked up a few. Wish I’d taken more notice during my Textiles lessons. It’s never too late to learn something new, so you might find a few more bags popping up on here. I also love just looking around. I was like a little kid after popping to town yesterday, with so many inspiring images in my head. Oh to have time to write them down nevermind actually create something.

Off to tidy up- normal energy levels are returning slowly!

If you want to visit the other blog hops-

Round 1 blog hop- Sarastamper

Round 2 blog hop- my-next-chapter

Round 3 blog hop- here!

Round 4 blog hop- creatinwithkirsteen

Card recipe: Crumb cake and Whisper white cardstock. Inks- all the ‘brights’ colours. Rhinestones. Marina mist satin ribbon. Stamp sets- Punch Bunch & Bliss. Linen thread. White embroidery thread (from my stash)

Bliss Bag- white and patterned cotton. Pear Pizzazz and Old olive ink. Designer buttons. Pear pizzazz ribbon.

Bliss Bird on a Branch & Retreating

Good morning! Here’s another little card using the Bliss set. This time I’ve used that little bird stamp which is just too cute! I’ve combined it with leaves from the Sale-a-bration Sweet Summer set (that you’ve already seen) and also used the word ‘Bliss’ to create texture on the tree trunk and branches ( there’s a close up of that later). The bird has a layer of Crystal Effects over it and is raised up with dimensionals. I’ve coloured the leaves with a marker. The stitching is done with a marker and then pricked to amek it look like real stitching. The little scallops are just halved circles stamped with the Bliss stamp and pricked. The sentiments are from’ Tiny Tag’ set and ‘Vintage Vogue’.

How are you doing today? I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything so I’m having a ‘no list’ day and retreating. It feels comforting to be esconced within these 4 walls and stay out of the cold wind.I’ve ditched todays’ list and am actually sitting down and watching a film with Will. I’ve managed not to cry at the beginning of Nemo (which we’re watching) and I may actually watch an entire film rather than the piecemeal affair that usually happens. Most films I never have seen the whole way through!!

It feels good to resist the call of everything. Ok, I confess, I did clean and hoover one room but then I simply can’t relax in a messy room (anyone else like that?!!). I’m debating whether to go the whole hog and have beans on toast for tea. I know what kind of reception I’ll get for that from the kids- but hey, I’m always telling people to be kind to themselves, so maybe I should take a bit of my own medicine!

I’ve still got places left for Friday’s (14th) scrapbook class at my house. We’re doing a 12×12 page, a 3D object and maybe something else!! It’s at 8pm and it’s a good way of having an evening off and relaxing at the same time. Email me if you fancy it.

Take care, and don’t work too hard! xx

Card project; Cardstock- Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Crumbcake. Ink- Early Espresso. Ribbon- pink and Certainly Celery taffeta. Pear Pizzazz marker. Stamp sets’ Bliss and Sweet Summer Sale-a-bration sets. Tiny Tags and Vintage Vogue. Paper Piercer, Designer button, corner rounder and linen thread.
