Clearly Besotted July/Aug Teasers Day 4

Hello everyone! Hope you’re well today and not struggling too much with the heat. I love the sunshine but the heat…not so much!

I said yesterday I was bringing you a two-fer..well in fact it ended up being a three-fer. Let me start with the dud, and the evolution of the card! We just can’t love everything that we make- so I thought I’d show my process. It rarely happens that I try and improve my cards- I’d be more likely to ditch it and start again.

I kind of liked the ring from Ring Around Summer but who knows what I was thinking with the odd green lines- they’re not even the same shade!! So I decided to pull the ring off and try again. I’d coloured the images in with Copic markers and simply stamped with grey hybrid ink. So.. onto number two.

So adding the butterflies creates movement but I still didn’t love it. Full disclosure.. I just put the ring onto the back of the original card so I now have a ripped back -so if I need to send it, I’ll have to cut the front off and add it to another card blank. I should not have been so lazy and just popped it onto another blank. Duh.

So, I decided to go simpler still.

So I stamped in grey ink, added a violet grey and a darker grey to make the ring look dimensional and then coloured in the toucan. I trimmed out the inside of the ring and popped a dark purple strip behind it. It’s hard to see the colour from this photo.

The purple (despite it being my least favourite colour) gives a good contrast for the toucan. I prefer this card but they’re still not my favourite cards. I hope though, it gives you lots of ideas of how to use the set (plus my paddling pool card from Sunday).

I hope you’ve got time to visit the Clearly Besotted Blog, then onto LisaMichelle and Francine Vuilleme plus seeing Mona and Alberto over on Instagram.

See you tomorrow for Release Day!

Bwahahahaha! Ripped back! People should do more posts like this. It is EXACTLY what can happen when you try and make a card. I loved seeing the evolution of your three cards Keren. The final card is really pretty and I think it’s a lovely way of using a floral stamp with pops of colour added from other elements.

It’s really interesting to see the evolution of the card, Keren. I can honestly say that I love all three versions. I love the design/layout of the first. I think it’s very modern and beautiful. I adore how you colours the wreath, it’s gorgeous! The second one is so pretty! I love how you added the butterflies, they really give the card movement. For the third, I love how you colours the wreath with greys, it really does pop off the card. The toucan is so cute in the middle and the pop of purple (sorry, I didn’t realise you didn’t like purple!) really pops against the yellows in the toucan. I love them all! xx

I LOVE seeing how cards evolve. Can’t tell you many times I’ve had to do this – and get a ripped card. Lol! I love the end result. Works really well!

You’re too hard on yourself. I think the wreath is gorgeous even uncolored. All three look great to me although, I certailnly don’t have your eye for color.

Thanks for being so ‘real’ in this post. For some reason, I find it so encouraging!

Thankyou. I think being real about our struggles is a good thing! I know it’s not important- it’s only cards, but it’s good to know that we all have days where nothing goes quite right!
