Hi! How are you?

Every month, Winnie & Walter have a ‘Rerun’ challenge using a slightly older set and giving it a bit of a workout! This month it’s In Bloom: Addie’s Gardenw_w_inbloomaddie_sgarden_6x8stamp_webprv_large

I decided to make a new technique (well, someone else may have done it, but I’ve just thought of it!) called ‘Artistic painting for cheats!’. (if you’ve got a better name- please comment and I might name it after your suggestion!!)

It’s making a messy arty image using the stamp as your guide but NOT sticking to the lines! Here’s how I began. Stamp and heat emboss the images (I’ve done a little masking too). Leave some of the flecks of the powder on the piece- it really adds to the finished texture of the look.

You can see I’d started to lay down some white- just add messy strokes of paint with a thick brush, not worrying if you go beyond the lines- just get a base down that looks like the shape of the stamped images. I’ve used acrylic paint for this. Then add some detail- don’t overthink, just go for light and dark shades/tints to give an illusion of shape. I’m not an artist, and granted- this technique is best viewed from a slight distance!

IMG_5127You can see how by adding a crisp Cutaway ‘Hello’ sentiment, it brings it back to a more contemporary look. Notice also that because you’ve embossed the image, it will still show through the paint, adding more detail too!IMG_5132

Hope you like my new idea- do join in with the Rerun challenge- there’s a prize up for grabs too! Head over to the blog and check it out!

See you soon! xx

That;s my kind of painting style. And leaving all the extra embossed bits and pieces, totally inspired.

Yep. Super cool. Brilliant to use red for the BG and I love that strip of green behind the die cut! A delightfully fresh creation!

Oh my, this is a unique way to add color. First of all stamping on a red panel was a stroke of genius but the painting is beyond beautiful. There’s a real look of oil on canvas, to me. Not only interesting but kind of retro to a modern beat. LOVE IT!

Your card grabbed my attention in the W&W Blog Post & I’m casing it for my entry. However, I didn’t attempt your wonderful painting as it gave me another idea. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, this is one of the most gorgeous cards I’ve ever seen! What brand of acrylic paint did you use, if you don’t mind my asking?
