Simple Valentines Card & Frustrations!

I know it’s only January but it’s good to get organised (or at least dream about getting organised!!). As everyone seems to be getting in Easter stuff (nevermind Valentine’s day!) and I had some scraps left over from some commissions, I thought I’d put together a more ‘bloke-y’ sorta card. The thing is, my ‘bloke’ has pretty fixed ideas on what does, and does not make a card fitting for a male. Apparently, spots are out (too much like girly polka dots), the stars paper has a whiff of femininity and too many hearts is not quite right either. So, the card is an epic fail- although maybe someone might like it! Maybe black and white with a hint of red is the way to go for him! Whatever your views (& I’d be interested to hear them on this one!)I think the key often with male cards is to have strong colours, simple graphic designs and geometric shapes. Obviously if your man is into footie or sport or beer, then the obvious cards will go down well, but there are lots of men who wouldnt appreciate the ubiquitous image of a beer mug!!
I love the simplicity of this card. As I’m sometimes criticised for my projects not being simple enough- this Valentine will cost you a max of 10 minutes and to be honest, I’d finished mine in 5! It was using the tiniest bits of everything; some gorgeous Bella Boulevard papers (from the Making The Team range) and my Stampin’Up! punches.
My blog will be undergoing a bit of a tidy-up and some additions to it, so please be patient with me as I update class lists and other upcoming events. I’d love to hear what the more local girls would like to do- so , the floor is yours, I’m happy to take on your ideas and what you need a bit of help on. This post is short due to 2 factors;
1- Unbeknown to me, I’ve pulled a stomach muscle- how can you not know?!! It’s much better today, but the weekend was rough in places!
2- I’ve had all sorts of frustrations this morning; technology gaining the upper hand again! An intermittent internet connection, a laptop that refuses to recognise my memory card and then a computer that wouldn’t send emails. All of this is good for me. It slows me down, reminds me that I am not in control, helps me sift through what I actually need to get accomplished, helps me to learn patience and makes me grateful for the things that are working. There… Frustrations are good for you!
See you soon, when I’ve got my workload down to a more manageable amount (ermm, that just might be never!!) xx

Well I think it’s a great card … and my hubby would be delighted to receive one like this I’m sure … but we all know masculine cards are not that easy … hope you recover soon and have a good week … We have decorators here for the next week or so … but after that maybe you would like to call for coffee?

Male cards are sooooo hard I have 3 to make for April, so might do a take on this one (without the hearts! but maybe buttons or some thing instead?..) using my computer to type up a few appropriate words onto card stock and my stampin’up round punch which I have to say has been one of THE most useful tools I have found lately. Could use words related to wine for one set of circles, cricket for another and ….maybe fishing for another… mmmm think this is what’s called rambling or thinking on your feet ….anyway thanks for the inspiration. Must go…have some party invitations to make for a little grandaughter…………thanks again for your inspiration
P.S. look forward to seeing what classes you decide on and hopefully I can make it some of them x

What a fantastic card and a fantastic way of looking at daily frustrations. I will definitely use it!
